I was in Best Buy today in Calgary and was looking through the large (and certainly larger than HDDVD) section and I see RoboCop and grab it. I then see Deliverance and grab that one too.
I proceeed to the check out counter, the cashier rings through RoboCop first and then rings through Deliverance and it won't go through. No problem, swipes the UPC again, then again, then again and still nothing. After trying again I look at her till screen and it momentarily flashes a warning that this product is not to be sold, in the store, until October 16th. She walks away, talks to someone and comes back and says "I'm sorry, we cannot sell you this movie yet." I laughed and said I guess someone is going to get their ass reamed on this one (right Ned Beatty). Whatever, I'll wait. I am just surprised, after checking the release date listed on this site as September 18th!!! - why the one month delay here? Anyone have the name of the retard in-charge so I can inform him to check the release dates so they can correspond cross border? (retorical question... maybe). And no, I will not pre-order them online from all the complaints of delayed or lost orders. |

Yeah, I noticed this as well. While I didn't ahve the "at the 'till" experience you did, I have noticed recently that Future Shop and Best Buy here in Vancouver (and I'm assuming across Canada) have ALL of the recent Warner titles listed with an Oct 16th release date.
Titles like Troy, Wild Bunch, Deliverence, Twilight Zone etc have yet to arrive on store shelves (or won't be sold to you if they do) and are also listed as "to be released Oct 16th" on Future Shop and BB websites. I'm not sure why there is a lag getting these titles released in the north but it's becomming increasingly frustrating to be sure. Safe to say I will pop in on Tues (the 16th) to see if any of the Warner BD's show up! |

That's because Alliance Atlantis distribute it in Canada while Lionsgate distribute it in the USA. Better to order it from the USA then.
