Not even close. Howard The Duck, Captain America 1990, Elektra, Ghost Rider and Man=Thing are all much worse.
This is a bad film, there's no doubt, but the extent of the backlash against it is due to the backstage stories more than anything. It's actually quite a dull film that doesn't deserve the publicity of being that hated. |

I've not seen Ghost Rider and some of the other titles but I found Elektra to be light years ahead of this movie. Not read the Elektra comic so I don't know how it compares but on a purely movie basis Elektra was entertaining. This FF movie needed some drastic editing so they could fit more of the story in as they don't even get their name until the credits roll. It was obviously geared for a sequel but it really doesn't deserve one based on this. Some of the cast are lacking too. |

Extras
Powering Up: Superpowers of the Fantastic Four - 20 minutes Pretty decent making of which, whilst not featuring much Josh Trank, shows that actual thought went into the film (although it doesn't get into the chaos of production). In some respects it helps to clarify what's going on in some scenes. Lots of concept art is shown which looks pretty good, and there's a small previsualisation of the Thing and some tanks. Reference is made to the Thing as a 'shell' - with Ben Grimm's human body underneath, which thank goodness is not an idea that is really communicated in the actual film. The Quantum Gates - 10 minutes Planet Zero - 8 minutes When you see a couple of transporter capsules, CGI backdrops and a floor shaped like a climbing wall, you can understand how Planet Zero doesn't look the most convincing. But they discuss some real world science and scientists they talked to. In some respects the CGI - which there are like 10 different layers of - weakens the film; the guy talks about "we added green to Doom in post-production to give a hint of the comic", when actually when you see step by step CGI added, Doom looks far more menacing with the human black eyes that we see in the raw footage and some of the early CGI. The Score - 5 minutes Unfortunately no Philip Glass interview, but Josh Trank and Marco Beltrami talks about the 'fusion' of a score, we see some raw footage from the composing session and well the score is one of my favourite aspects of the film. If anyone wants the UV code let me know ![]() |

I have all but Man-Thing on Blu (it really is the most unwatchable shit...) but any of the others you've listed are more entertaining. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is dreadful, possibly worse than Fant4stic, and should be used as a stick to batter it with.
