I feel the same way. This movie looks awesome and I won't be buying any version (DVD or HD-DVD) of the movie until it someday, hopefully in the somewhat near future, hits Blu-ray.

I won't even see it as Hollywood caved and edited a portion of the film. It's bollocks.

I saw this about a month ago and wasnt very impressed. It had elements that were good but ehhh it was pretty formulaic (sp?). Most people seem to like it though.

P.s. I am not easily impressed..

HA yea I saw the whole movie on July 24th. I have connections..hehe but yea It was alright, the tv adds make it out to be the best of the year and that is pretty funny. I would say it was alright but nothing great. 3 stars.

Better films this year (to name a few)
Sunshine
Grindhouse
Black Snake Moan
3:10 to Yuma
Rescue Dawn
Zodiac

I know that the Kobal towers bombing was a real event and a sad one at that, but the aftermath I'm just not sure if this movie is based on true events or not and if it is, how accurate is it? I have not seen the movie, just the preview.

I thought it might be a great movie until I saw a trailer version with rap music. It made me think of Jarhead and I figured it would be a poor to average movie.

I'll wait.

I can't stand Jamie Foxx, so that's an automatic no for me.

It's Khobar, not Kobal, but regardless rarely is a movie such as this based on the true events. Inspired by, perhaps. But not based on.

I'm mixed on wether I will see it or not. I'll wait and see the reviews.

You're correct, excuse me from my previous post. After doing a little research on this it is in fact a fictional movie that the director Berg created off of real events like the 96 Khobar tower bombings and the 2003 Riyadh housing-compound assaults.

I'm going to go see it tonight so I'll let you guys know how it is.

I saw this when they did the sneak preview a couple of weeks ago and personally thought it was really good. I enjoyed it more than The Bourne Ultimatum. I'm a little surprised that the reviews haven't been better and that the early returns here:

http://news.fantasymoguls.com/origin...lan-edges.html

seem to indicate that it will get beat by Disney's The Game Plan for this weekend. Their "expert" said the following:
Quote:
The Kingdom continues Jamie Foxx’s “spotty” box office track record. Only two of his movies, Collateral and Dreamgirls, have hit $100M domestic, and The Kingdom won’t get anywhere close to that benchmark, although it will probably finish as the fifth-best opening of the Oscar winner’s career.
After seeing it I had figured it wouldn't have much problem getting over $100 million, but I could be wrong.

Saw the film yesterday and it was mediocre at best.

It tries to be deeper but in the long run, it's just another average shootem-up in my view. The trailer contained the best parts of the film as so many do. Just shows how important those trailers are in getting people into the theaters.

I am a movie fan first, and I am a very biased Blu-ray fan second. This movie was disappointing. I was expecting a "better" overall film than what I experienced. The trailers were awesome, but the film in its entirety was flawed. I did not appreciate some of the "undertones" in the film, and I will leave it at that. Some might say that my review is negative, because it a Universal film. I will only state that "The Bourne Ultimatum" has been the best movie that I have seen this year.

Default Thought it was good.

saw the kingdom on tuesday with my wife and we both enjoyed it alot. it was one of those movies that you get into and get mad and wanna do some damage over to those terrorists. kinda like how private ryan made me feel when i first saw it. i thought the action was great and the story was not too bad. overall we thought it was worth seeing. just my 2 cents.

yeah good movie but keep in mind how hollywood and the west portrays the east...like comon....how many times is hollywood gonna make movies where the "poor old dumb muslims cant do nothing" but the american heros come and solve the problem and save the world...this is such propaganda and its rediculous.....movies like this teach ppl here and most parts of the world false representations of what the truth really is....dont get me wrong i love americans like i do all the cultures and ppl of the world but damn hollywood can be nasty sometimes....
