Review just posted here: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/71-In.../17568/#Review
Personally I loved this film - probably the strongest war film of 2011 so far. Yes, I am biased but that's my genuine thoughts on it! |

I rented it from Lovefilm.
The Blu Ray picture quality was about average, not poor, but by no means Demo quality. The actual film was pretty much what I expected it to be. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall. In terms of other Korean War films, I'd rate Brotherhood 9/10, for the purpose of comparison. |

Detail, clarity, and especially color reproduction - take a look at the lush yellows and blues - are fantastic. I really do not know how you can describe this release as being average! Yes, the disc is indeed REGION-FREE. Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 03-23-2011 at 05:28 PM. |

Someone asked for an opinion, and I, having seen the somewhat obscure film in question, volunteered to give my opinion, and then you decide to not only question my opinion (which admittedly you have every right to do) by telling me I am wrong, but then re-phrasing what I said in my re-iteration, in your own words and end up in fact saying exactly what I said previously. We clearly have two very different definitions of what "average" means. To me it means it is on par with other blu-rays, but nothing special. For you it would appear to mean "bad". Whatever. |

You implied that the release is average. I disagree. It is one of the very best looking UK Blu-ray releases that I have seen lately. I've projected the film on a 100' screen - it looks spectacular. Furthermore, brand new films (less than a year old) that appear on Blu-ray typically look excellent, not average. There are only a couple of releases that I could think of that are not excellent, and they are still very, very good. In other words, I disagree with your average for Blu-ray comment

Lastly, about average is not in line with what I expect from new/modern films that appear on Blu-ray. I am sorry. I expect excellence, or close to it. And 71 - Into the Fire certainly is an excellent release. ![]() Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 03-23-2011 at 08:05 PM. |

I have this new Cine Asia BD release and saw it a few days ago with my girlfriend. I very much agree with the review posted on this site. The film is excellent, great story, great cast and great war scenes. Both sound and picture is excellent!
I highly recommend this release ![]() |

Although I will provide you will a sensationalist review if it pleases you. "71 Into the Fire" is probably the best film I have ever, seen and the image quality is just like having everything played out in front of you. Immediately rush down to your local electronics store with a copy of the film and demand that they play it on every screen. The picture quality will amaze all passers by and they will enter the store by the thousands, all with moist crotches having wet themselves over the picture. The store will then obviously make you their top salesman, and you will become an electronics millionaire over night. Your new found riches will have you nobbing dozens of hot hi-definition babes every night. In short, 71 Into the Fire will change your life. Better? KrugerIndustrial: Apocolypto has a stronger picture, just for one off the top of my head. |

![]() This is boiling down to a matter of semantics, but I have to agree with Pro. Average when applied to movies, work colleagues, music, etc is conventionally applied in a derogatory sense, it's not reaching anything good or decent, it's keeping the intermediary when it should be better. So common, ordinary, nothing special. HD in itself is something very special considering the scope for quality over DVD - it's monumental if you go back to the days of VHS and Betamax. HD is not keeping an average standard, it's keeping a standard of excellence over DVD quality. I can, without a shadow of a doubt, tell you that not one person working for Cine Asia has the attitude that we want to just bash out any old thing as soon as it arrives - were that the case, we wouldn't spend a lot of time doing QC, putting together extras or even filming our own Cine Asia exclusive extras. We strive to give people what they want and put out the best quality product we possibly can, we certainly don't have an 'average' attitude - and we think this is reflected in our releases. That being said, thank you for your feedback. Last edited by Cine Asia; 03-28-2011 at 12:05 PM. |

I think this disagreement has all boiled down to differing interpretations of the word "Average". To me, in this context, it means I got what I was expecting from something that has High Definition as standard. It isn't as if I was comparing the image quality to that of a DVD. The reason I switched to Blu Ray in the first place was because of the better picture quality. I am just not the type of person to hype up something that was basically what I had come to expect from the format. It just seems to me that some people are still seeing a good picture as something of an exception, when in my experience it is the standard now for this format...and therefore average (in a mathematical sense). I've never considered average to be a derogatory term. If I didn't value my work colleagues (as you cited in your post), average isn't a term I would think to honour them with. |

Perfectly understandable, often movies give you a different feeling on the second time around, especially if you wait a little before watching again. Let us know what you think again afterwards.
I think really, it's down to people's perceptions in how they want to see certain terms - exactly as you said. Anyway, have a good day! Last edited by Cine Asia; 03-28-2011 at 02:16 PM. |
