It has been formatted to fit this screen." I've seen a lot of movies on tv that have cropped out picture to do this, but does anyone know how many there are where the only thing modified about it is the black bars are gone & there's extra information on the tops & bottom of the screen? I was watching Spider-Man 3 on ABC HD awhile ago & noticed things I never seen before on my dvd(still haven't gotten the Blu-ray for some reason. lol). I paused my DVR & compared the two versions & ABC were playing an uncropped 1.78:1 version of the movie. I'm one of those horrible people that love for a movie to fill the entire screen, if it's available to be seen that way. If a movie is able to be seen in 2.40:1/2.35:1 or 1.85:1/1.78:1 ratios, why can't they release it on Blu-ray & make a feature where you can choose whether or not to have black bars? They could make them pop up like the menu does. That way the fan of that movie can see it the way they want, instead of just the way the director wants! Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
