Most definitely want to buy Hard to Kill, Mean Streets, A Perfect Murder, Just Cause, and The Butterfly Effect. I've never seen Next of Kin, so that's a possibility, and perhaps I'll grab Cellular sometime down the line if I ever want to revisit it.

I have an interesting behind-the-scenes story of Murder in the First, which stars Kevin Bacon, Christian Slater, and Gary Oldman.
The courtroom sequences were filmed inside a warehouse in Sylmar, CA in January 1994. I was one of the extras (as a photographer) in those scenes. We filmed at different times of the day inside there, with lights on the "courtroom" windows to make it look like daylight, even when it was pitch black outside. One night, we were shooting very late. It was about 4:30 am when the actors and extras were told to take a break. We were just starting to walk out of the warehouse door when everything began to sway back and forth. I just thought I might have been dizzy from the hot lights but then the shaking turned really violent, and I could hear the crashing sound of things falling in the courtroom mockup and the lights went out. 4:31 am, January 17th, 1994...the Northridge earthquake. Sylmar is very close to Northridge, less than 10 miles, so we got it very bad. Everyone stumbled out of the building, and we were told to get as far from it as possible. We were instructed to get to the sidewalk area, where many people laid down, some were injured and bloody. Luckily, there were a few medical professionals there on the set (including at least one of the extras who had medical training). I was shaken up but helped with going to different people to calm them down. Helping others helped me forget my own pain (I had banged into something inside the warehouse when the quake hit hard.) No one was allowed to go home until the sun came up a few hours later. When it was clear enough to see, we could see a number of black clouds rising from fires in the city. (When I did get back to my apartment here in Hollywood, I saw that one cabinet had tipped over, and several things were broken, but nothing too extreme, thank goodness.) Filming was shut down for several weeks. When it was resumed, I heard they rebuilt the courtroom set in San Francisco, where they also shot the prison scenes and other scenes. Almost 20 years have passed, but I have never forgotten that night. I recently saw Gary Oldman at a special Q&A session for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and told him I was one of the extras that night. He remembered the incident very well. Last edited by bluskies; 03-21-2012 at 09:35 PM. |

It's always cool to see catalogue titles finding the way to Blu,but i'd love to see WB digging deeper into their catalogue, and to pick 'em more carefully(they r releasing a lot of crap),you know. They also announced today German schedule for July, and it will include "classics" like 'The Astronaut Wife','The Island of Dr.Moreu' ('96) and 'Spawn'.
![]() Speaking of not that old titles -give us 'Fearless','After Hours','Lone Star', 'Waiting for Guffman' or 'Before Sunrise/Before Sunset'.All awesome flicks. ...And speaking of great ol' thrillers,'Point Blank'and,'Klute' would be awesome. Other great WB titles :'Badlands','Straight Time','McCabe and Mrs. Miller','The Haunting','Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?','Splendor in the Grass',Jimmy Dean's classics,Bogey's 'The Big Sleep' and 'Key Largo',Cagney's classics,Flynn's classics,'The Bad and the Beautiful','Out of the Past','Cat on a Hot Tin Roof','Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid'...i could do this 'til tomorrow ![]() I assume it's a lot cheaper to remaster/restore relatively new titles than the older ones, thus i'm not surprised with WB selection. This is just me whining.Feeling alot better now ![]() Last edited by Akijama; 03-21-2012 at 10:00 PM. |
