Default Hatchet 3 greenlit!

Adam Green's horror franchise rumbles on with further adventures of swamp-dwelling psycho Victor Crowley, as Dark Sky Films greenlights the 3rd film in what will almost certainly become an ongoing franchise. The second film (on BD in the US with a UK release from Arrow Films any time now) detailed the reason that Victor Crowley can't be stopped. More from Green and the Dark Sky camp...

While Green expressed trepidation about the possibility of handing the franchise to another filmmaker, he expects to be "more involved" than the typical producer, and promises "we'll never run out of creative ways for Victor Crowley to kill people."

"It has been our intention from the beginning to continue building the 'Hatchet' franchise," said Greg Newman, EVP of Dark Sky. "Adam Green has created a horror icon in Victor Crowley, and we're pleased that Crowley will live on in future installments of the franchise."

I just hope that sales of the film on BD and dvd (no VHS) convince the Dark Sky team that going the direct-to-home-video market is the way to go to avoid 'watering down' the trademark gore and intensity of the films. I'd pay serious money to see Hatchet 3 in 3D (a rumour debunked) but not an R rated Victor Crowley film. Awesome!
