Independent distributors Raro Video U.S. have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray legendary Italian director Luchino Visconti's Conversation Piece (1974), Riccardo Freda's Murder Obsession (1981), and Gabriele Albanesi's Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show (2010). According to the distributors, all three titles will be available for purchase in April.

Note: Blu-ray.com has already reviewed Raro Video's first Blu-ray release, Federico Fellini's The Clowns The Clowns . Also, in January Raro Video will release the Fernando Di Leo Crime Collection .

Very much looking forward to Murder Obsession. Looks cah-ray-zay.

Hoping Lamberto Bava's Body Puzzle gets a Blu-ray release soon. Looks pretty killer judging by the video Raro has on YouTube. Dunno if it'll have the class of A Blade in the Dark, but looks pretty cool and mysterious nonetheless.

Just saw that Visconti's Conversation Piece is up for pre-order on their site for $17.99 + free shipping in the US. It is currently up for pre-order for $15.99 on amazon.

I really liked The Leopard... is this a title worth blind buying?

Conversation Piece is available for preorder at $15.99 on Raro's site as well; I think they moved the price down. The other two Blu-rays were likewise lowered. (Murder Obsession was I think $17.99 before, now also $15.99.)

From a response to me on FB, it sounds like Raro is looking at an Italian horror set around October. No idea about bd vs dvd or what may be included. I recommended DEVIL'S NIGHTMARE, LONG HAIR OF DEATH and the Fulcis they've released in Italy before.

I hope Murder Obsession isn't part of that box; I just ordered it. ;p

And, despite not coming out until April, I'm told they shipped it today.

In my opinion, this is an essential film to own. While visually it does not rival The Leopard - I can think only of a couple of period films that actually do - it is every bit as impressive. Additionally, all DVD releases that I have owned, I believe six, have been very poor. This should be a major upgrade in quality.

All three Blu-ray pre-orders are now $15.99 or lower from Raro's site. They make it hard not to blind buy. The only thing I'm on the fence about is this this Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show thing. It's not some DTV trash, is it?

McCrutchy, I can't tell if you were asking me, but Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show is the only film that I am unfamiliar with. Raro should focus on the older titles they have the rights for (they have early Monica Vitti films, for instance, which have never before been released in the U.S.).

Trailer for Ubaldo...

I was asking the ether (i.e. anyone).

In any event, Conversation Piece and Murder Obsession will be in my collection.

Thanks!
I ended up pre-ordering it from Amazon before Raro matched the price.
I am really looking forward to it.

Not really digging Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show judging by the trailer. Looks like it's one I'll pass on.

Now till Sunday midnight, Raro's site has a deal where if you buy or pre-order two Blu-rays, you get a DVD of your choice free.

Oh, and I'm not getting Murder Obsession early after all. ;) They almost sent me the DVD before realizing it was the Blu-ray, so disregard what I said about getting the Blu-ray more than a month before release. :p

You are welcome

Raro also uploaded a new cover, but I cannot tell yet if it would be the actual cover that will be covered by a slip (the original cover is above). It is from the original poster and looks very good.

Looks like a couple of people have responded to their FB post asking about the same thing. If there is a code or something to make the offer work, I'd probably cancel my amazon pre-orders and buy from them.

I assume you just buy the two Blu-rays you want and then mention the DVD you want in the notes.

Raro confirmed this.

As good a time to blind-buy To Be Twenty as ever...

Not sure if I'd dig this flick. Same with Ubaldo Terzani. Friend of mine told me neither is very good. I've got all the other Blu-rays. May just have to pass on this free DVD offer, which is kinda sad 'cos I'd really like to snag Body Puzzle, but hopefully that'll be on Blu-ray before long.
