Japan 'rain' out now! - Launch trailer and Trophy list revealed

Rain is the story of an invisible world revealed by falling rain, and the lost spirits who come alive when the clouds roll in. This unique game casts you as a little boy who finds himself lost. He saw a little girl's silhouette outside in the downpour, but when he went out to find her, he became invisible like her. Now, he must make his way through this world, and since players can only see the character when rain falls on him, you will have to find your way by seeing and interacting with what becomes visible as the water falls and runs down the streets.

TROPHIES

Rainbow's End – Collect all the memories.

Twin Shadows – Collect 20 memories.

Lost in the Rain – Collect 10 memories.

The Two and the Town – Catch up with the girl, and begin working together with her.

End of Chapter 1 – Complete Chapter 1.

End of Chapter 2 – Complete Chapter 2.

End of Chapter 3 – Complete Chapter 3.

End of Chapter 4 – Complete Chapter 4.

End of Chapter 5 – Complete Chapter 5.

End of Chapter 6 – Complete Chapter 6.

End of Chapter 7 – Complete Chapter 7.

End of Chapter 8 – Complete Chapter 8.

I see rain people

It looks like a pretty interesting game. I like the art style they're using too.

The developers recently launched their own facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/rain.PS3

There's just an intro, piece of art and different crop of one of the screenshots at the moment but I think it's a good indication they're building up to release now.

Quote:
The story of rain is the enchanting tale about a boy who chases after a girl with an invisible silhouette. After discovering that the girl is being hunted by ghostly creatures, he embarks on his own journey into the mysterious world of rain to save her and discovers he has also become invisible. Players will play as the boy, whose silhouette can only be seen in the rain. Using the unique ability to appear and disappear under cover players must learn to navigate through the unknown to advance. Just like in the real world, what can be seen isn’t everything and using imagination is the only way to reveal the truth.

Throughout the game you will be challenged to think ahead and plan your movements to advance. For example, when you direct the boy underneath cover, he will disappear from enemy view, or to draw enemies away from your path you may need step into the rain to become visible or can pick up items to taunt them. More details will be shared on these mechanics and puzzles at a later date. However, we are pleased to share with you – for the first time – our first gameplay video from the beginning of the game, “The Children and the Night”. Watch the video at the top of this post, and make sure to turn your speakers up for the full experience!

Didn't come up in a Thread Title search, probably because "Rain" is in quotes.

Game seems to be coming along well, apart from the tearing but some technical jank is to be expected when Acquire are involved.

In the new trailer above, you will discover that eventually the paths of the invisible boy and girl collide. Each of the locations they’ll visit throughout the game varies dramatically from the next. For instance, the church where the boy and girl nearly meet on their venture houses a number of rooms near the altar and scaffolding to hide from enemies while the abandoned factory presents a more dangerous gritty setting with metal structures and high industrial walkways. It is here that the boy discovers that when he walks through mud he can be seen by any enemy and only by walking through a deep rain puddle to wash off the mud will he be able to hide once again.

Together the boy and girl will explore more new environments such as the brightly light circus filled with trinkets and deserted enclosures where they will have to work together in unique ways to escape their pursuers. rain is an emotional journey that will remind players of a familiar yet distant time.

We are looking forward to sharing more about rain at E3 in just a couple weeks. We’re letting E3 attendees go hands-on, so look for more news from the show soon!

I'm quite excited for this game. Not only is the premise really interesting, but I just in general LOVE the rain haha (and so I really loved the atmosphere of Heavy Rain too lol). I read somewhere that this game has the playtime length of a retail game.

Different enemy types present different challenges. Small, hound-like creatures simply scout the environment, and larger, more humanoid ones track you down, crashing through scenery in their pursuit. Later on, there are even friendly beasts, huge, wandering giraffe-like creatures that provide portable shelter.

And once you've tracked down the girl you're chasing, the two of you work in unison. You can move blocks to help her flee enemies, and further down the line, where possible, she'll come to your assistance too. The relationship between the two is emotive but mute - the only explicit narration in Rain comes from floating text that, like Bastion's storyteller, occasionally comments on your actions.

Quote:
“[At the start of the second chapter], you are chased by another monster, the monster from the beginning scene, who is smarter and physically strong.” She explains as she plays. “He can guess where the boy is, even when he is invisible, so I have to keep running, or keep myself unseen in a place he doesn’t expect.”

This is the real antagonist in the game, a bipedal enemy with a stark and angular design, who will ceaselessly hunt for his prey. The real target is the similarly invisible girl, who you have been chasing after since the delightful watercolour based introduction.

...

As the areas which the boy passes through start to expand in scale, the game also begins to allow for much greater exploration, as the puzzles become more complex and you try and figure out how you want to proceed. For those replaying the game, secrets are tucked away which reveal a deeper story underneath this seemingly simplistic tale.

The further chapters also add fresh ideas for you to play with. Fresh monsters continue to be introduced, with one particular sort not being hostile towards you, or even paying you any attention in the slightest. These tower above you, but offer a spot of cover underneath them, allowing for a subtle twist on that core mechanic.

Rain: Developer Diary, Vol. 1
+ Posted by Dais Kawaguchi // Associate Producer, SCEA
Quote:
Hi PlayStation fans! On behalf of the Rain team, we want to say thank you for all the positive comments we’ve been receiving this year — especially coming out of E3 — as we continue to unveil more about the world of Rain. The teams at Japan Studios and PlayStation Camp have been busy this summer finalizing development and putting the final touches on Rain. They’re determined to bring a truly unique and engaging experience to PSN later this fall.

Today, we’d like to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Rain with the release of the first video in our new developer diary series.

Game Director Yuki Ikeda explains how the concept of being lost plays a large role in Rain. A child may feel scared and alone, but also simultaneously curious about his surroundings. This is how the story of the invisible boy came about. Our Lead Planner Tomoharu Fujii, Art Director Seiichi Terashima, and Designer Tomokazu Oki also share some of the secrets in creating an environment that relies on the boy’s ability to become invisible. The world of Rain will pique players’ curiosity and invite them in, one step at a time, triggering a unique emotion.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our first developer diary. We’ll be back with more, so stay tuned to PS.Blog for more information as we gear up for a busy summer!

The E3 press conference trailer (with beautiful lyrics) hasn't been released standalone AFAICT but here it is snipped out:
