Default Bad news...Justice League of America movie canceled

Source(very reliable site): http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php

Today, a trusted insider who was working on the JLA movie told the Superman Homepage that the film is indeed dead...

Apparently much of the crew were given termination notice a fortnight ago, spending the past two weeks chaotically attempting to archive everything "just in case".

"It's a pity, there was a lot of good stuff in it - stuff that would've been fairly new to the screen", said my inside source. "But also some not so good stuff... so who knows...".

So is that it? Is the JLA movie dead and buried?

"There's a glimmer of hope that it will still be done... but that's a lot of planets to align."

On top of that news a producer for the Superman Returns sequel has told people recently that the sequel's story will feature Superman as an "angry God". I do not like the sound of that personally. I think this is an overreaction to the disappointing and slightly "soap operish" Superman Returns.

Yeah, I'm not surprised as well although I would have liked to see JLA in the big screen.

First, this a tough movie to pull of and second, at the same time you have to please the fans as well which we all know can be very hard lol.

Anyway, Superman sequel kind of sounds like Spider-Man 3, doesn't it. THe whole angry and out of control thing....

I would really love to see Superman angry. I wonder what he'd do?

Oh, and I also visit supermanhomepage occasionally. Really good site about Superman.

No surprise, JLA wasn't sounding too good anyway.

From the moment I heard about this movie my gut told me it would never be better than the old Street Fighter movie. I'm actually glad it's been canceled, as it could have done irreparable harm to the Batman franchise.

Batman seems to be DC's only saving grace at the moment. Too bad. Hopefully when this gets made it gets made great.

I just hope it doesn't take too long. Superman Returns was actually pretty good too. But Batman Begins was better.

Justice League is the Aliens vs Predator of Superhero movies. It's full of their A-listers and pretty much acknowleges their solo movies are dead for about the next decade

Avengers doesn't suffer near those problems, especially if you leave hulk out (face it, Cap is a B-lister at best when it comes to movies)

I'm a huge fan of the Justice League (even Aquaman ), but I'm glad to hear this is cancelled. I just wasn't buying that they'd be able to do the characters justice () by having them all together in what would probably be a sub-two hour movie. If they made it like a 3, 3.5 hour epic, then sure. But they wouldn't bother to do that.

Hopefully this'll put Man of Steel back on track. I'm ready to see Superman in action!

This movie will push through, according to reliable source. They can shorten this film to around 3 hours

Way to pointlessly bump an old thread with information that doesn't even make sense.

I was thinking the same thing. Address a thread that was last commented over 4 years ago, make people think something new was announced regarding the film. Terrific.

this just was out in June...

Variety is reporting that after the success of Disney’s and Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ Warner Bros. has begun production on a Justice League of America movie.

It looks like the Warner Bros. studio have called upon ‘Gangster Squad’ writer Will Beall to work on a screenplay for DC’s Justice League of America. Beall is currently working on both a Lethal Weapon and Logan’s Run reboots.

How will this all pan out with Chris Nolan’s ‘Man of Steel’ an ‘Batman trilogy?’ Only time will tell.

Rumors regarding Warner Bros. making a ‘JLA’ film have surfaced before but we would love to see the film happen one day. Afterall many of us grow up with the Superfriends cartoon and would love to see in in live action form.

Sources: Variety

Maybe Marvel should Just Buy DC so that way we not only Get good DC Animated movies but we can actually get good live action DC movies. The only thing that saved the Batman Franchise was Nolan.

Ben Affleck might direct and possibly co-star, says IGN. I'm down with that. Well, at least the directorial part... or as long as his role is small or something.

I don't think this will ever happen and besides....Marvel doesn't have a great track record for comic to movies adaptations anyway.

There is a lot of hysterics over Avengers at the moment. But outside of Avengers and Iron man 1, what's left?
