Default DVDC's Garage Home Cinema Conversion / Man Cave

Until today I've been a long time lurker but haven't posted....

I converted my garage to a home cinema / man-cave around 4 years ago but have only just taken pics. Apologies for quality of photos, they're not as sharp as I would have liked.

I've a 65" Panasonic VT20B (one of the first to arrive in the UK) which I use for occasional 3D viewings and gaming. This replaced my old 56" Sagem.

My other equipment includes:

Panasonic DMP-BDT300 Blu-ray player
Old-style "fat" PS3
Sky HD Box
Onkyo TX-NR808 amplifier

The stand is the BDI Casata model.

Speaker-wise, I have:

Kef 90 centre speaker
Kef 103/4 Floor standing speakers
Canon V100s for front and rear effects
Rel Subwoofer (Stadium model which recently received a service from Rel)

Many thanks! It's a comfortable environment to chill out when the main living room is busy with Grey's Anatomy and the latest reality television!

That's a very impressive collection, rkolinski! I have a lot of the original Alien and Aliens memorabilia but it's been boxed up for years. I really must unearth it at some point. I love the comprehensive nature of your collection - truly gobsmacking! Must be one of the biggest I've ever seen!

Thanks to all for the kind words!

Cheers, crazyBLUE! Really appreciate your feedback!

Creating my own space for relaxing is the best thing I've done.

Sounds like you really enjoy it as you should. I know I like to shut the world out & enjoy mine as often as I can ( Everyday )

Good morning

I've got one quick question ........ How does the left side of your soundstage sound ? It looks a little blocked in the photo

Good morning, DangeRuss!

There's around 3 feet of space between the left speaker and the sub and I don't detect any loss of sound from this speaker. The photographs are a little deceptive from a perspective point of view. A lot of the older movies I watch (and some television channels) are in stereo and I listen to a fair bit of music - never noticed any degradation in performance.

Many thanks! I tend to change things around in the room quite often just to keep things interesting. Lots of my collectibles are in storage so occasionally I'll bring something out of retirement for a change.

Personally I'm not one for collectibles (outside of more media to play ) but I really like the stuff that you've shown so far. To me..... I have enough stuff around the house that Needs my Attention (read dusting) . And it's not one of my favorite things...... Maybe if I had room for glass display cases

Cheers! Dusting is a nightmare - the more bits and pieces you have on shelves, the more the logistical nightmare of taking everything down to dust on a regular basis.

I've disposed of quite a bit of memorabilia in the last few years as many items never see the light of day and I'd rather they were enjoyed by fellow collectors (plus it's freed up my pennies for other things). These days, I'll occasionally buy a print or a small collectible but my days of large items are behind me.

In a perfect world, I'd have a room dedicated to my collection but that is definitely a pipedream!

Due to lack of space (my DVD / blu collection now exceeds 1200 discs and my old LDs and vinyl are taking up valuable space), I've invested in a new shelving unit as a temporary solution to my storage woes.

Since taking the pics, I've rebalanced the feet and it's now started to fill with television box sets, etc.
