Default Special Features on Blu Rays

Is it just me, or does almost every blu ray that has special features on it have the features in standard definition and not in 1080p or HD at least? Every time I'm done with a movie, I go check out the special features, and 99% of the time, they are in SD. Why? They show clips from the movie, WHICH THEY SHOT IN HD, so what's the deal? Anyone know why they do this so often?

1. Because the features were made and edited in standard definition (from years ago)

2. Because SD features takes up much less space on the disc

3. Because the company didn't want to bother transferring the old featurette up to HD

I will have to agree with all these. It's most likely #2 more than anything.
