United Kingdom Best sources for The French Connection (I/II)

Hi folks, been meaning to get these on blu ray for a while, but I've noticed lots of mixed ratings for different releases. Whats the best sources / countries for both French Connection 1 & 2?

Thanks !!

Not sure about 2 (is there even more than one transfer of that out there? I'd assume not.) but with the first one, everyone got up in arms about the colour and grain changes to the original release, even though it was approved by Friedkin. This was the same transfer in the US to the UK one here:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-F...-Blu-ray/1893/

It was then re-released in the US as part of the 'Signature Filmmaker Series' with a new transfer which everyone agrees is superior. That version has not been released in the UK yet but the US release is region free, and if you order it from Amazon.com it should be under the customs limit

Second (superior) release: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-F...Blu-ray/39973/

If you want both of them, then you'll probably want to import the Filmmaker Series release of the first one, and also import the second one (as that didn't get a standalone release in the UK).

Thanks for the quick reply.

With the 2nd one though, is the US source region free??

It's unconfirmed on that page, but DVDWorldUSA says it's A locked, (if they're reliable). I'd prefer a Region B one.

I have the UK set (double pack) with both films in it and then ordered the US remastered (unmolested version) and put it in the UK case.

Part 2 looks fine and typical of a BD of it's era and at least it hasn't been tampered with
