Default Apple iPod Classic or iPod Touch?

My frugal side says go with the 160gig iPod Classic. My wild side says go with the 16gig iPod Touch.

I can't decide. I like the features on the Touch. I also like the capacity on the Classic. However, I am one of those people that won't be using this CONSTANTLY. I will use it occasionally. Nothing die hard.

I am kinda leaning towards the Touch. Again, I like it's features and the fact that I can just "touch" it. I don't need TONS of space. Who is NOT near a computer/laptop to swap out songs if I get tired of the 20,000 or so that are on it?

My next thing is, this does not have a moving hard drive does it? The Classic does right? So that is another plus for me.

Anyone have a Touch?

Thanks for any input guys!

The touch is basically the same thing as my iPhone and the iPod feature works excellent. I would go with the touch as it has built in wi-fi and other cool features. Wouldn't it be nice to access internet while you're out and about at an airport or mall or what not? YEP!

It all depends on how many songs you have. The 16GB holds 3500 songs which is plenty.

On my iPhone I've got 4 full length movies(using Handbrake from my DVD collection), as well as about 300 songs and I've got tons of room to spare.

And biggest feature is obviously multi-touch is which is better than sliced bread. Its sooooo much easier to use than the click wheel.

You won't regret it

That's what I am thinking. I am a casual user and not a die hard. I do have a feeling in great Apple style - that a new touch with more space is on the horizon. As with all technologies - its a gamble. I think I will be happier with the touch.

Your phone has what, 8 or 16 gig?

The touch will be outdated in 6 months. 8GB is not applealing to me.

Do you watch videos or do you listen to music? Pick your poison.

Both and pictures. I won't be doing much video. It's 16gig now, not 8

From an appeal standpoint, I'd get the Touch. It is kind of sexy and I like the touchscreen interface.

The touch is a poor persons excuse for an iPhone

I kind of agree. If you're going to go the touch route, might as well go all out and get the phone.

I use my ipod in the gym, and train to and from work. I like to have my entire cd collection at my finger tips. For me, capacity is key. I also like the tactile feel of the scroll wheel when I need to adjust volume or skip a track and not look at the device.

The touch has the cool factor, with web integration, etc., but you pay for it and you give up capacity.

All depends on how you will use your player.

I'll second that--
They're just starting to play with Flash memory (as opposed to the drive-mechanism that all the tech-nitpickers complain about), but between this, the Phone and the Shuffle, they've yet to break 20G...

When they get to 30, buy, but for now, hang out with the Classic for a year or two, and build your iTunes Movie library.

Why would you say that?

Let me break it down for you -

1 - I use Verizon and happy as hell with it. The quality of service is perfect and I can get calls anywhere in the USA.

2 - I don't need or want another phone. I don't care if it's the iPhone or not.

3 - The iPhone is capped at 8GB.

Does that help you out? I would not call a $400 dollar iPod a "poor persons" device. However, thanks for your opinion.

I don't have a massive iTunes collection. I have a very little one. I do however have over 40gig of mp3's from other sources. Do I really want all that on an iPod? No. I will pick and choose. I also don't go to the gym so no problems there Lol.

Yes, and what I have learned thus far in life - if you keep waiting, you will always be waiting. Technology is killer. You can wait for the next best thing till the cows come home. If you do, you will never get anything purchased. Example - where would we be right now if we waited until one HD format was chosen?

Do I know that Apple WILL be releasing a bigger, better, higher capacity iTouch? Yup. When will it happen? Who knows. Do I honestly care? Kinda, but what can you do - keep waiting?

Beleive me, I have thought and thought about this until I don't want to think anymore. The 160 Classic is great if you want storage and the "old skool" iPod. However, I really like the new iPod a lot. It's slim, sleek and simple. Plenty of space for whatever you might need.

If you need space, it's not for you. If you can live without space - iTouch sounds good

It's all about what you need/want. That's why I posted here.
