Default The Last Rifleman (Pierce Brosnan)

Quote:
Pierce Brosnan has been attached to star in The Last Rifleman for director Terry Loane (Mickybo And Me), with WestEnd Films boarding the project’s sales rights ahead of TIFF.

Inspired by a true story, Brosnan will play Artie Crawford, a World War II veteran living in a care home in Northern Ireland who has just lost his wife. On the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, he decides to escape his care home and embarks on a journey to France to pay his final respects. •••

I'm a little confused with the timeline and age.

Pierce is 67 years old, but he could easily play someone older ofcourse, but how old is his character?
It should be 75 + 17 or 18 at the minimum.
So will he be playing a 90+ year old man?

I've read about the true story and that guy was 89 and he sneaked out his care home on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Respect for that guy!

Didn't Michael Caine already make the movie "The Great Escaper" in 2023, which covered the same territory?
