If it has a better transfer, I'll finally get this damn movie. The reviews are off-putting.

It's the old Sony disc in a new case. I have the re-issue with the slipcover and considering the age of the film, at the time in 2006 it was 22 years old, I think the transfer is pretty good.

That looks sweet. But I'm not double dipping unless it's a better transfer. I already double dipped on T2.

It's virtually indistinguishable from the DVD and it only has the terrible 5.1 sound with re-recorded sound effects. And the DVD has more supplements.

The age of the film isn't really the deciding factor here. The transfer is pretty bad.

Agreed. Far older films have gotten far better transfers.

This one is just plain bad.

Dear All

If I have never own this movie either through DVD or BD before, is it worthwhile to buy this Digibook as a collector edition? How bad is the Audio issue?

The age may not be the issue, but I don't think the movie could look much better than the existing BDs. It was fairly low budget and filmed in poor conditions.

Ugh, God I hate those re-recorded sound effects. They're almost as bad as the ones they did for Jaws and Superman.

A transfert in 4K is in the works. It will look as good as Aliens, if not better. This wasn't filmed in poor conditions, the movie have amazing lighting, Adam Greenberg was one experienced DP who knew how to make the most out of any shot, no matter the light. This Blu looks like crap because, as with many catalog movies, it use an HD transfert made years ago, for the movie to look good on DVD.

The Lowry digital restoration is done and so was most of the audio commentary. Van Ling was working on this special edition Blu-ray (as he has produced nearly all of the SEs for James Cameron's films) but production stopped when MGM ran out of money.

This Digibook release only adds liner notations. The disc is the exact same one produced by Sony before Fox took over. Fox is in danger of losing the disitribution rights to the MGM library this Fall so they are simply doing this to increase revenue before they no longer have the opportunity to do so.

Is this still in the works? I thought it got cancelled.

I just want the original mono sound instead of the new sounds.

I love digibooks and the Terminator films so looks like I wil lbe double dipping for this. Not a big deal for me since I only paid $5 for the original terminator blu-ray. Doubtful that this will get a better transfer.

I think the Digibook packaging is great.... and I don't own this one on Blu-ray yet, but I'm not buying it until they give us a better disc

I love digibooks, but haven't bought one in a while. Terminator would be perfect for my collection, but I don't know about this one.

It's one of MGM's most popular titles and a better transfer is already completed and in the can.

I'd say it's doubtful that it WON'T get a better transfer.
