Default Snow Crash

Quote:
Joe Cornish's follow-up to Attack The Block will see him tackle Neil Stephenson's Snow Crash...

Since Joe Cornish made his directorial debut with Attack The Block – a commercial and critical hit – we’ve been eagerly waiting to find out just what he’d tackle yet. At one point, his name seemed to turn up on the shortlist for Die Hard 5, although whether that was Internet rumour or real we couldn’t tell you. But there is certainty over what he’s opted to do, now. For it’s been announced that Cornish’s second directorial effort will be Snow Crash.

Snow Crash will be based on the book of the same name by Neil Stephenson. The book isn’t a new one, and since it was first published over a decade ago, there have been attempts to bring it to the big screen. But now, Paramount Pictures looks like it’s moving ahead with the movie, and the appointment of Cornish is a big step forward.

If you’ve not heard of Snow Crash before, check out the synopsis for it, and then you might want to consider getting hold of a copy…

“In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo’s CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he’s a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that’s striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about Infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous...you'll recognize it immediately.”

Cornish sounds like a great choice for the material, and we look forward to seeing how Snow Crash develops…
