United Kingdom Trends when buying online?

Hey guys,

Browsing the forum and looking at a few websites and it got me thinking.

Where do you buy your movies from?

The most popular places?

Are there any trends as to which sites do better deals on certain types of blu rays?

Looking to become more aware of the best sites for picking up blu rays from!

HMV - ALL my preoders and for Exclusive steelbooks
play.com - Exclusive steelbooks
ebay - for older hard to find blu rays and for oop slipcovers and steels
amazon marketplace - cheap 2nd hand blu rays
zavvi - occasionally they have an amazing offer or deal on a blu ray but longer waiting times due to them being slow

all the websites are very competitive when it comes to new films so it doesnt really matter where you order from. HMV send out their pre orders pretty quick and always arrive friday/saturday before release date.

For older titles that you want brand new, i would say its pretty hard to beat amazon's prices

I'm always compare prices on Amazon,Play, HMV & Zavvi. Play and HMV are great for steelbook exclusives so I do buy a lot from them. Amazon are usually the most competitive price wise and so unless the others have a deal (like HMV's 20% off all blus the other week) then Amazon's the place to go. Zavvi can surprise you though, I've noticed some really good prices on there before. They always have a Mega Monday sale and there's usually a few hidden gems to be found there. Basically I buy wherever's cheapest, but then don't we all!
Also I like going into HMV's stores just to compare and see what they have. Usually I won't buy a Blu-ray but they usually have some pretty cheap DVD's

I usually shop from Play.com because I have only rarely had any problems with them, and when I have had an issue they've been very professional about sorting it out. Amazon.co.uk and HMV.com are also very good. I would recommend any of those three.

Play.com used to have the most exclusives in terms of limited collector's editions, steelbooks etc but now HMV have them too, and Amazon.co.uk sometimes give you Amazon Prime trials which basically means you get every item courier delivered until the trial runs out, you get about one of those a year if you're lucky, and they're really good.

The price tracker on blu-ray.com is really useful, you can mark at a price and you'll receive an email if/when it hits the sweet spot.

Same.
I'll often use the find-dvd site to quickly check prices, but to be honest its always best to check the stores themselves for the prices, as its not always accurate (and struggles to keep up with used prices on Amazon & Play).

A few stores I regularly use;

Amazon.co.uk + sellers on marketplace
Amazon.com
Play + sellers on marketplace
HMV
eBay (powersellers)
zavvi/thehut
sainsburysentertainment.co.uk
tescoentertainment.com
thegamecollection.net (used 3for£8, limited selection atm though)
game/gamestation (rarely have much online, instore you'll find occasional gem)

totalblankmedia.com (cases, blu-ray trays etc.)

Amazon.co.uk (cheap, free shipping, and reliable)
Zavvi (customer service can be atrocious but I have always received an item I ordered - minus one where they cancelled it due to not having stock)
HMV (especially when they gave a 20% discount - however they are awful at fulfilling orders and I have had far too many orders cancelled by them to give them high marks)
Tesco Entertainment (usually for games though - I love their discounts and did have one very unpleasant experience with them but that was 2 years ago and they've since improved dramatically)
Blubastard (for my US Blu-Rays since they're sent quickly, I don't get charged customs, and I get a voucher everytime I place an order)
ASDA Entertainment (only if it's very cheap)
Sainsbury's Entertainment (ditto)

Only HMV, really. Due to my ol' faithful student discount. Also, Play.com and Amazon are always there for me when I need them.
