Angry Play.com New Packaging Problem!

Hoping this is just an isolated incident but I just received 2 Steelbooks from Play.com and the actual Steelbooks were located on top of both pieces of foam so giving no protection on the top side. It looks to me like the packer couldn't get the box closed properly as the 2 bits of foam are quite thick so decided to join the foam together to make room. Seriously guys, after all the work you did on creating the perfect packaging!

I received 1 like this too. Strange indeed but luckily it wasn't damaged. Seems they might have a 'dodgy' packer of Steels in their warehouse.

You can't get two Steelbooks in there without forsaking something as the lid doesn't close properly. Hopefully it's just a one off incident.

The 2 steelbooks you speak of were sent in seperate boxes, yes?

My guy in Ireland Skyped me and I gave him explicit instructions for shipping my 4 to me. We got 4 steelbooks into 2 boxes to cut down on shipping costs, but 2 steelbooks in 1 box requires sacrificing 1 of the foam pieces altogether. However, Play.com should not be sending 2 in 1 box.

They need to be notified of your situation so that they can properly inform their packers about these types of incidents from compromising the very purpose of their investment in the new packaging. E-mail them with the details and recommend they diligently inform their staff about proper procedure for the shipment of product.

Well, not a "postie" and not necessarily just for steelbooks. But, here in Canada, our postmen and postwomen will ring the doorbell 2 or 3 times in quick succession and then proceed to hammer on the door with heavy fist 6 or 7 times as well.

It particularly sucks for me because the front door is right next to my bedroom and I work nights. So, right in the middle of my sleep (2 or 3 hours in - with earplugs in my ears no less) I get a LITERAL rude awakening.

It's a small price to pay for my beauties though.

Now... when it's one of my roommates parcels (one of them is into collecting/trading perfumes ) that causes this to happen, it's a completely different monster altogether!!!

Rather that than squeeze them into your letter box or leave them on your doorstep.

Reminds me of last week, my neighbour was banging on my front door at 2.30 in the morning. 2.30 for Christ sake, luckily I was still awake at the time playing my drums.

Like i said above, i have also received a few steelbooks in this way and feek it's miraculous it wasn't damaged. Must be a real steelbook saboteur unhappy he can't affor the money to buy all those steelbooks they released, so went to work in their warehouse and try to damage those of owners who could

The postie banging on the door is kinda annoying but it's better than having em chuck it through the letterbox on it's final home run considering all the abuse it's gone through getting here already lol.

It's always nice though when you have that nice big or small box in your hand and get to rip it oped. Aaah, the joys of physical media ownership

As for perfumes for your roomate, i hope he smells good rather than sour most times lol. I kinda got an addiction for perfumes myself a while back but i built my collection up to a point where i had everything i needed to have and was happy to stop unless some real bargain whacked me in the face like i set myself a budget for. Now the addiction is steelbooks and it's getting expensive

I ordered Safe House steelbook from Play.com because of the new packaging they use. They sent it to me in a standard jiffy bag!

Luckily it wasnt damaged.

Good to hear they came unharmed but it seems your the unlucky ones based on how high demand has been. Seems they've run out considering such high demand but to be fair, they did package it via a somewhat protected method with the bubblewrap part while if you used HMV, all would come with hardened envelopes with no bubblewrap. I assumed its a miracle they weren't damaged but they're tough cookies those envelopes.

Tbh, regardless of what method they come with, damage can always occur. I had Amazon get me 2 and they had both damage. Akira didn't even have external damage, it looked perfect, but then i opened it and the plastic holder for the left side was broken off and tore the art book. So, no method is fool proof but when something goes wrong, it's nice to see retailers that try their best to amed things

Well, I got 2 yesterday, each in a jiffy bag, and wasn't really happy but they wee still mint. However, today the other 7 of that wave arrived, each in the new packaging and packed together in 1 big box, and I had to pay a nice fee for customs. Would have hoped they keep sending single shipments.

Make a complaint to your local sorting office. That ain't acceptable. If it falls on deaf ears get onto Royal Mail.
