Trusted Reviews - Sony Bravia KDL-55W905A

Sony KDL-55W905A - Great for Gaming

If you’re a gamer, meanwhile, we’ve got some brilliant news for you. Using the game preset with as much picture processing turned off as we could find, the 55W905 delivered an input lag measurement of just 7ms – the lowest figure we’ve ever recorded from a domestic television. The only catch is that if you game on a 55W905, you won’t be able to blame your TV for your rubbishness at Call of Duty…
Hopefully this characteristic spreads to as much of the Bravia range as possible.

With most picture processing disabled in game mode, I don't know how much difference the high-end X-Reality Pro chipset makes. Maybe they've engineered the set to physically bypass as much processing hardware as possible in game mode to reach such an impressive result.

Another is the set’s use of Sony’s latest X-Reality Pro picture processing system. It reduces the number of processing chips it uses from three to two for enhanced efficiency and cheaper production, and it improves still further the effectiveness of the unique ‘database’ approach that’s served it so well on previous TVs.
