Default Cheapest Blu-ray player?

Heard a lot of great things about blu-ray. I;m currently in the market for a blu-ray player, can anyone recommend a player that can support 1080p/i that costs under $200? thanks.

He's a new member, but he joined in August...maybe not a troll. You won't find anything brand new for under $200 right, but there are some open box deals if you look hard. I saw a guy on here get a player for $89. Anyway if you apply for a credit card at sonystyle.com they'll give you a $100 credit on your first qualifying purchase of $299 or more. You can order the 40gb PS3 with them for $399 and get the credit so it'll only be $299. It's an awesome deal!

Do a little research before posting an obvious question. Now back to ignore.

I you haven't noticed there are a lot of new members/trolls around because of the new $100 HD-DVD player. We can't be sure who is just trying to bring the site down, but I see you joined before me just haven't posted yet. Don't take offense...people in here are very nice and helpful. There are just a lot of dummies around now.

Come on guys you can take a little time out of your schedule to help someone out. He may just be wondering where he can find a great deal.

Go search Amazon, or ebay. Check your local Best Buy there might still be a BD-P1000 available. Also, blu-ray players are all/only 1080p

The cheapest I can think of is the new 40g ps3 that is sub $400.

maybe when black friday ads come out, they might get cheaper than that...

I agree, don't ignore him until he's proven to be a troll, and then let the mods take care of him if he's just out to spew FUD. I, for one, would probably ask the very same question if I was finally ready to go out and buy a player and was hearing about all these "great" deals on DUD players. Give him the benefit of the doubt. (but this does just re-iterate the point about letting newbies start new threads)

Now, can anyone else offer any helpful advice on where to get a good, discounted, quality Blu-ray player?

The Sonystyle.com deal is going to be hard to beat because you'll probably get enough Sony points to get another 1 or 2 movies. That would be 7 or 8 total with your purchase being that S3 comes with it.

thanks grisle for your support, I will look into the BD-P1000.

yes i know i dont post much on this forum. I signed up in august because thats when i first started researching about blu-ray, and you need an account on this forum to search threads. in my opinion, i think these forums are too hostile and not user friendly. you post a single question and people second guess you thinking you're trolling, maybe it is bad timing but whatever. perphaps i'll come by here in a month or so when things die down.

The $89 was a samsung 1200 DEMO (sears???) but they still got the free 5 movie + 2 or 3 moive off the rack.

I would skip over the bdp1000 & look for a the 1200, call around to see if you get a demo since the 1400 is out there MAYBE one out there for you.

If the bd-p1000 is for you here it is $299:
