Does the new Sony 790 blu-ray player need any firmware updates,Ive been reading good things about this player & i can get it pretty cheap!Anyone have this player?I dont have 3d & wont being using movie downloading. thanks

I have it and I like it. It has an RGB issue currently, Sony is promising a fix this month. You either need to set that setting to 4:2:2 or 4:4:4.

I got mine this week and it did have a firmware update I had to apply to it.

This is the current version, check your player system's settings...Released 5/16/2012 Version M13.R.0369

At B&H Photo it is 238.00 delivered thats a little cheaper. thanks everyone is the firmware at the Sony site?

If you hook it up to your network, under system settings you can just update it there.
