I couldn't find another Wish List Thread for this movie specifically, so I thought I would start one.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the film's release and it's high time we see it on Blu! I know it's not widely considered a "classic," but for many children of the 80s it it most certainly an integral part of our childhood memories. Columbia got a lot of flack for their widescreen DVD (now long OOP) where the framing had been off, causing these odd pan and scan moments combined with heads being cut off (Grace's head gets cut off at the top of the screen during "Let's go to the Movies" and there is some very distracting panning and scanning within the widescreen frame during "Easy Street," for example). Clearly, Columbia saw this as a problem, because every later release of ANNIE on DVD featured the full frame film only. Now, I hate the weird framing of the widescreen DVD, but I would rather watch that then the full frame any day. The film is 2.35:1 so the widescreen is a BIG difference from the awkward, cropped full frame. I know its too much to ask these days for studios to give us fully loaded Blu rays of second tier titles like this (which is a shame, because all this great material - deleted scenes, making ofs, etc EXIST) but a beautiful Hi-Def version of the film in the correct aspect ratio would be a fantastic way to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
