The Hunt Blu-ray PRE-ORDER
![]() The Hunt One of my favourite films of last year, The Hunt is a Danish film about a nursery school teacher (Mads Mikkelsen) in a small community who finds his life unravelling after a lie told about him by a 5 year old girl snowballs amongst the residents. Incredibly tense, full of gut-punches, some nice dark humour and some incredible acting (Mikkelsen is superb and the young actress playing the girl is fantastic) it is, in my eyes, the best drama of last year. Surprisingly timely, the themes of paranoia, of protecting children above all else, of mob thinking and the way accusations turn to assumptions turn to given truth - and the damage it can do - is scarily realistic. I can't recommend it highly enough. Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 04-15-2013 at 06:34 AM. |

As I posted in the comments to the news story here was lucky to get tickets to the UK premier at the London Film Festival. Great Q&A from the director Thomas Vinterberg.
Was based upon a number of real cases but not from Denmark. |

One of the best things I saw last year - a harsh dissection of human attitudes and the impossibility of a situation that spirals out of control. As others have said, Mikkelsen is outstanding, but it's the weight of the drama as a whole that makes the film as affecting as it is.
An interesting companion to Vinterberg's Festen (The Celebration). |

Looking at Arrow's past few releases, especially their new films, it looks like it will be locked. However there aren't 100% consistent and a fair few of their catalogue releases are region free so there's a chance this may be as well. But I wouldn't order it until someone has the disc in hand and can confirm it.

The good news is for region B with the German blu ray of The Door - there are English subtitles included. Essential, otherwise i would not have bought it. The French disc does only have French subs and no dubbed English -
Picture quality on the German disc is top class also - The disc is released by Senator/Universum. I have the release with the brown coloured cover with Mikkelsen and Schwartz' faces -i cannot see any region coding info on the disc or cover. I blind buy too many discs most of which go straight on to e bay but this one worked out for me. |

Shows how much I know - my copy arrived today. Damn it, I'm going to miss Play.com.
Comes with a pretty nice slipcover - foil-gold effect on the writing and images - if you're into that sort of thing. Can't see any indication of region information anywhere on the disc or packaging though so I'm afraid I can't help with that. |

Mine came yesterday along with Sightseers and the whole package was soaking wet. I don't know what happened with it, but I had to phone them up and they are sending out a replacement. The slipcovers were falling apart in my hands
Luckily that was the only package that was wet and my other orders including my Who Framed Roger Rabbit steelbook were fine Last edited by mattyl149; 03-23-2013 at 02:58 PM. |
