More & more we're seeing steelbooks being released for bigger new releases, as well as all kinds of catalog films.
I'm on the fence of buying certain catalog films that have been released as amaray/digibooks in hopes of seeing more of them re-released as steelbooks (much like the UK Warner steelbooks). I'm considering selling off some of my older titles seeing as certain studios & independent distributors have been released these titles as steelbooks. Anyone feel the same way? Anyways, do list titles or studios you foresee releasing new steels! |

I only have 3 Blu-rays that aren't in steelbooks.
The Passion of the Christ which I would replace with a steelbook if it got a release. X-Men trilogy which I would only replace if they got individual steelbook releases ala X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the Universal Monsters coffin set which I wouldn't replace, but would pick up Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man if they got the steelbook treatment. |

I don't bother with the "I will wait in case it gets a steelbook" mentality because it may never happen. The only situation that doesn't apply with me is the Indiana Jones Trilogy. I already have Indy 4 in steelbook from FutureShop and own the DVDs. So, I can wait on those for a while. Worst case scenario I'll get the Indy set on Blu-ray for a great price. Otherwise, I'll just replace the title with steelbook if it happens to come along. No big deal.

With play.com releasing all these great steels, I'm hoping for some of these next year. First Blood, Wanted would make a great looking steelbook, Commando, Four Lions, all the Indiana Jones movies, Leon, Minority Report, The Mist, Never Back Down, Platoon, Terminator 3, Transformers 2 & 3.

Hoping for these to be released in the UK, in steelbook form:
Lord of the Rings trilogy, Firefly: complete series, TRON Legacy 3D, all 8 Harry Potter's; individual 3D steels released over the course of a year, Elf, Star Trek (2009) re-release. |

I'm actually expecting/predicting that we (Canada, maybe the USA as well) will see a domestic release of all those white Warner Premium Editions at some point next year as Future Shop & Best Buy exclusives. Virtually all of them have been re-released at least once already, so they seem like fairly 'safe bets'.
Wouldn't be surprised either to see a big push on the Marvel movies at some point, inclusive of a re-release or new release of the current Iron Man's. |
