United Kingdom Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Does anyone have any info on the disk contents for the UK release ?

I notice the US diamond edition release has a 7.1 DTS HD MA sound-track on it, but it's region locked and I cant find the equivalent info for the UK release.

You can look at a scan of the back of the UK case on Amazon.co.uk - it specifies the 7.1 DTS HD track, plus various other options.

Canada Long Blank Space Before The Movie

I have just purchased Snow White yesterday and I am playing it at the moment, there is like 20 minutes blank space before the Walt Disney Logo appears? Are this defects? what is going on?

My UK copy just came through the letterbox - 4 days early

Going to watch it this afternoon

Any questions I'll be happy to answer

At first glance there's finally a Disney Movie Rewards programme for the UK. You get a code with it and register online towards collecting points to trade for Disney products.
Code starts with Snow White and the new Snow Buddies film, so you get no rewards for the movies you already own, no matter how recent.

There's a pic of Beauty and the Beast - 'coming Autumn 2010' with the old DVD cover photoshopped onto a blu-ray case.

Hey!

Can you please confirm what audio languages and subtitles are on the UK version and if the UK gets the restored original theatrical English mono track that is on the American, French and German release?

Also does the UK version have BD-Live functionality?

Cheers!

You may not have to wait that long. I'd heard that Beauty and the Beast was coming in Spring 2010, with Fantasia and its sequel coming in Autumn, the two having now swapped release dates with each other. This could be completely wrong, or just for the US though, I don't know what to believe. But as long as they're all out in 2010 I'm satisfied and eagerly awaiting the releases.

It only has the DTS 7.1 DTS HD-MA on there
I wasn't aware the US, French and German releases had the mono track.
Anyway, trust me - the film sounds fantastic in lossless. It sounds like it always did to me and they haven't messed with it at all. Has a perfectly mono sounding track like its supposed to

Languages: English/Italian/Spanish/Dutch
Subtitles: English for the hearing impaired/Italian/Spanish/Dutch

BD-Live functionality - the option is there to select but it comes up with a box saying its currently not available in your region. Obviously must be there as its going to come at some point. Whether its coming on from the actual release date I don't know.

Beauty and the Beast trailer says 'Autumn 2010'
Dumbo trailer also says Spring 2010 as seen on the US trailer

My copy arrived today too. Does anyone know the reasoning behind putting the audio commentary on the DVD copy of the film and not the blu ray?

They've really done that? Maybe it's to stop people like me giving the superfluous DVD copy to a friend.

The audio commentary is on the blu-ray
It's in the bonus features, where you can select for it to be on or off during the feature
And also you can cycle to it using the audio button to change languages during the film

It's not listed as being so on the packaging though! It really makes it look like there are different extras on the DVD copy and the blu ray copy. I haven't had a chance to actually watch it yet though, or I would have found this out for myself.

The flyer and the trailer for Beauty and the Beast both say Autumn 2010, but, if it was swapped with Fantasia at the last minute, these had probably already gone to print and had discs mastered, so I don't think it's set in stone.

Until Disney make an official announcement, we don't know if it's Fantasia or Beauty and the Beast next.

The Snow White Blu Ray is fantastic though - I've never seen the film looking so good.

Just out of interest, where did you get your copy from and do they often ship early?

Cheers,

Matt

I got my copy on Thursday from Amazon. I think they're shipping earlier than usual to avoid delays due to the postal strikes.

It's nice to have a rewards scheme here, although upon signup the only thing you have enough points for is a Ratatouille 'phone charm.'

Got mine, watched it last night.

Some high pitched singing in the DTS HD MA presentation. I thought it was a tad high. Caused all sorts of reverberations in my room not to mention my ears bleeding.

Good movie though, except I found some of the evil in it a bit much. Quotes like "rip her heart out" kinda shocked me, there were one or two others as well.

Yes, I had mine on thursday too from amazon.
Got lucky I guess as they posted it on tuesday so as to give it the best chance of arriving on day of release due to postal strikes. Fortunately where I live we had post delivered on thursday and Snow White was amongst it. Hopefully will have Public Enemies, Wizard of Oz and Braveheart tomorrow now - fingers crossed.

That's a good point about the packaging not stating the commentary is actually on the blu-ray - but trust me, it is.

Something else too everytime you put the disc in and the magic mirror can tell what the weather is like outside and what time of day it is. Lovely touch.

Yeah, it does. Same design as the inner sleeve, although with some sparkly/shiny bits. Also, parts of the cardboard sleeve are raised.

Damnation!! I already bought the US Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs release to see it (on the supplied DVD , and even on DVD the transfer looks superb!! ) but of course the only way to watch US releases is to have a separate US player - and I never ordered from Amazon UK thinking it wouldn't ship early so now I'll have to buy fro HMV or Tesco's or other supermarket/high street shop !!

Not all US releases are region locked. There are a couple of websites that detail the US releases which are region free and can be happily played on UK blu ray players. Unfortunately, Snow White is not one of them.
