Universal Studios Mortal Engines 3D Blu-ray (2018) [Region Free]

Quote:
Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

Mortal Engines is the startling, new epic adventure directed by Oscar®-winning visual-effects artist Christian Rivers (King Kong). Joining Rivers are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies three-time Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who have penned the screenplay. The Universal and MRC adaptation is from the award-winning book series by Philip Reeve, published in 2001 by Scholastic.

On board as producers are Zane Weiner (The Hobbit trilogy), Amanda Walker (The Hobbit trilogy) and Deborah Forte (Goosebumps), as well as Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (The Hobbit trilogy) joins Boyens as executive producer. Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

Yes, like a Mad Max type style, was reminded of that too. Looks interesting, yes, though will have to learn more about the plot/characters in the next trailer. The 3D could be worth it, though some of the close up shots show they weren't thinking in terms of 3D framing, with the character's head cropped off.

I'm not very hopeful about the 3D in Mortal Engines from the trailer I saw in 3D. It looked like mild to low medium 3D layering from the short clips I saw, and was not a good demonstration of 3D. Hopefully they take more time on the overall film for a strong conversion, but the 3D in the 1st 3D trailer is pointing to weaker 3D so far anyway.

Even so, great to see Hugo Weaving in a new role. For that reason, I'll check this out in theaters probably.

I'm with you there. Was very interested way back when the first references came out. But I'll still wait for the 3D Blu-ray. I'm zone free now so no worries.

I've been waiting on this one since I first heard about it way back last year. Will be waiting more for the Blu-ray as I never go anymore to theater presentations of 3D. It's been screwed up for me too many times. Even if the 3D is less than ideal, the movie seems to be right up my alley!!!

So this is the first big film project that I heard of after the Hobbit series for Peter Jackson. From the trailers, it looks interesting, though not quite exciting or anything, and Peter Jackson is mostly timid with his 3D in the Hobbit films. I'll have to keep an open mind about the film and it may surprise me hopefully.

It just looks like another cliched, franchise kick starting attempt. Absolutely nothing in that trailer excited me. As for the Mad Max comparisons some posters have referred to? No, just no.

Nothing in our world is guaranteed anymore but the good thing is at least for 2018 Universal released 3D domestically and fortunately MORTAL ENGINES is in their purview.
