Fantastic news. Pathe are doing a complete restoration of Julien Duviviers' La Belle Equipe a.k.a. They Were Five (1936), starring Jean Gabin, Charles Vanel, Raymond Aimos, and Viviane Romance.

I'll be in Paris this April and never imagined that I would ever be able to see this film in a theatre there.

Any word on which ending it will use?

I almost wrote, "now when can we expect La fin du jour" then I followed the link!

Fabulous news that this, La fin du jour, and Voici le temps des assassins have all been restored and will be released in theatres and on BD.

Wonderful!

I've held on to my Japanese DVD of the film precisely because it had both endings. Cannot wait for an upgrade!

Do the blurays have an English subtitles option?

amazon doesn't mention English subtitles for Voici le temps des assassins. That would be a shame if true.

Voici has no English subs.

The dual format version of La Belle Equipe has English subs but I'm not sure about the BD only release.
