Default Hi Def Music Question

After christmas i will have a pretty nice HT setup and I'm looking to expand my blu ray collection into music as well. Ive noticed it's hard to find good concerts on blu ray and I have a ton of music on my computer, my question is how do I know if my computer music is "hi def", most of them are 320kbps, is that as good as it gets? If not how would I go about acquiring the highest quality possible if they songs haven't been released on blu ray?

I'd like some concert DVD's but not if they aren't the best quality audio possible.

320kpbs are lossy-compressed MP3s. Not only are they not "hi-def," they're not even as good sounding as a garden-variety CD. Hi-def, in terms of audio, generally means 24/88 or 24/96, without lossy compression.

The sound quality found on Blu-ray concert discs far exceeds the sound of lossy MP3 files you have on your computer.

Music concerts on Blu-ray can be difficult to find from local B&M stores, but by going through the database here you should be able to easily score them from Amazon.

Regarding Hi-def music for your PC, there are plenty of sites whereby you can purchase these tracks.

You should check this website out...

They have quite a good selection of lossless audio. It's in FLAC format but you can convert it over to WAV. Just make sure your new HT supports either format.

And if you have the CD's you can convert them to FLAC files with a free software .

Here's some amazing classical stuff totally FREE. Just click on the store in the top right corner, select TEST BENCH HD Audio Files and start downloading! You have a choice as to the bitrate you want.

Okay say I have flac files on my PC, is there a way to stream without converting? I have a PS3 and a Denon 1612

would this be my best option?

Hopefully someone can answer that question for you. I don't stream music and have no interest in doing so. I'm always interested in how things are done though, so I look forward to getting a reply to your question from someone.
