So it looks like there is a new label in town that will be handling a few Asian titles.

Someone asked in the comments if they plan to do Cat III and re-releases of the tartan extreme line, and they said they do have plans for those releases. Here's hoping they can actually get off the ground.

Yeah, I would think it's going to be a challenge for a new label during these times, but Cauldron seems to be doing ok, so hopefully they do well.

Apparently there first title is some sort of Sci-fi Japanese film. No idea what that could be.

Looking forward to what comes out of this label. Plenty of J-horror titles I'd like to see but haven't been brought over. Maybe we'll even see some toku eventually.

Haha. That would be a wish come true, but I would think that's out of the reach of a new label. If Criterion has a hard time dealing with Toho now, I can't imagine what it would be like for a new label. Certain labels like Arrow can't even get a deal with them. They seem to be a lot more controlling than they were 20 years ago. Only chance for Matango would be if Media Blasters still has the rights, or if Criterion has it.

Yeah wouldn't expect any Toho titles. Can't really think of many other horror toku but the description mentions cult titles too.

Wouldn't expect any of the big ones like Ju-on either. But who knows, we don't really have a solid example of the type of licensing they can pull off.

I'm not expecting titles like Ju-On, so I'll keep my expectations in check. There's a lot of copycat material out there. I have too many unwatched blind buys to dive into yet another label so I'll only be picking up the better-known stuff.

I'm interested, but wonder if they're a tad bit too ambitious.

"We'll execute this not only by screening films in theaters or showing at film festivals, but by making each film available through streaming services. In addition, we'll allow physical media collectors the chance to purchase limited collector's editions (designed by us) of all of the films we acquire."

A new label that's going to screen movies, make them available on streaming services and releasing limited editions on physical media? Why not focus on one and see how it pans out? I wish them luck.

Doubt they could do Korean titles so early. Allegedly Koreans ask for much more money to buy the rights.
