Want to see the film, and will probably end up being a blind-buy but a bit disappointed at the (supposed) lack of extras ie just a commentary from Fincher, especially since The Social Network (another Sony/ Fincher collaboration) had a decent selection of extras on it.
Here's hoping that more special features get announced. |

A blind buy you won't be dissapointed with. One of my favourite films of 2011, a brilliant and very effective adaptation.

I haven't seen the Swedish version, but people that did have been telling me it's better story-wise. I honestly thought the story was poorly explained in Fincher's version, which made me unnecessarily confused. The last 20 minutues of the movie also seemed very 'forced'; it would have been better if they had left that part out.
Besides that, I loved the visuals and especially the music. Great stuff there, but Trent Reznor rarely disappoints. |

I'll pick it up when its reduced but I wasn't keen for one simple reason - the accents. From none at all for Daniel Craig to some sort of Scottish Russian for Rooney Mara to variations on Swedish Chef for most of the supporting cast. Original language or don't bother with accents at all is my preference but leaving it to the choice of the actors is bit daft. Makes for an interesting comparison with the Noomi Rapace films but I know which I prefer

I also thought that Fincher carried many of the problems over, not least the rather disjointed plot structure - one thing is happening to a guy, something else to a girl, when they come together all the eariler stuff gets forgotten, then just when you think it's over there's another 20 minutes of "stuff" to sit through. It's definately more cinematic, but both movies strike me as good-not-great, 3-out-of-5 contenders. |

I understand that the last 20 minutes were essential for the sequels, but that doesn't mean Fincher could not have done a better job in making it seem relevant and important imo. |
