The news comes a few months following Sega’s Facebook push for the game, where they attempted to gauge overseas interest in the title and encouraged fans to spread the word.

“Your voices helped make this happen.” said Aaron Webber, Associate Brand Manager for the game. “Miku and SEGA fans, this is your moment. We’re thrilled to bring this title out for you, and we’re counting on your support. Tell Your World! ”

Is this a standalone karaoke game with Japanese songs?

That was exactly where my train of thought was leading. How could this get the green light (not taking anything away from this personally) while Yakuza 5 is still in limbo? Sega seems to make every wrong decision possible, wow.

I guess I have another game to look forward to then. I'm glad that I didn't import this back in March. As for Yakuza 5, hopefully Sega announce a localization for it at E3...

I'd imagine there would be some kind of audience for this kind of stuff here (Even my dad is a fan of Hatsune Miku), so I'm surprised the games haven't come out in the west.

No. It's more like buttons from the PS3 controller display on screen and you press those buttons at the right moment. So no karaoke singing. Just press the buttons the game tells you to press but timing them at the right moment which goes with the rhythm of the song.

As for Yakuza 5, Yakuza games usually take over a year or so to be localized. Though with the Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Collection, Sega might skip the PS3 version for the Wii U version.

Sega was always very unsure if there was enough audience in America or not. But having the PS Vita version of this game being playable at last year's E3 and having a Facebook page to see if there is enough people who want to see the PS3 version localized. You could say that Sega is finally trying to see if there is an audience or not outside of Japan and it succeeded.

GameStop are offering an exclusive pre-order bonus for rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F. Pre-ordering the game from them will allow you to avail a Snow Miku 2013 costume and a custom PlayStation 3 theme with ten backgrounds.

Additionally, GameStop also appear to have leaked the game’s release date—August 27th. Sega haven’t made an official announcement yet, but it appears that the publisher mentioned the date on their Facebook page, then subsequently took the news down.
