Why do companies continue to put awesome stuff like this out on standard DVD and not lump it all into one single 50GB BluRay?
As much as I try to "stop" buying DVDs, my hand is forced to have to buy standard DVDs with releases like this. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/..._id=1003630961 |

Blu-ray represents only a tiny fraction of the DVD market. It would be good to have a BR title like that to bring more attention to the format. It could be a hit with a good sound mix.
My problem is with obscure titles that maybe .0000000000015% of the world is interested in. |

I think it would be nice if more and more musicals and concerts were released too. I just hope they don't flub Help by releasing the awful version that Miramax put out. I wonder how those old B&W Beatles titles would look on BD.

Recently HDNet Movies aired "Imagine: John Lennon." During this documentary there is a scene of The Beatles performing "Twist and Shout" at the Royal Command Performance in 1962, which of course was in B&W. I was simply shocked at how great it looked. You could actually see the sweat running down the faces of Paul and George and could see the individual hairs on John's head.
Seeing that nearly all of the Beatles footage was filmed, we should be in store for some great releases in the future. We have to remember that The Beatles are to HD Audio Optical as Star Wars is to HD Film Optical. Apple Corps will simply wait until the HDM market is much larger before releasing any of the good stuff. Here are a few things I think we will get from The Beatles/Solo on HDM within 5 years: A Hard Days Night Help Magical Mystery Tour Yellow Submarine Let It Be The First U.S. Visit The Beatles Anthology Ready Steady Go Paul McCartney - Rock Show John Lennon - Madison Square Garden Concert John Lennon: Imagine George Harrison - Concert For Bangladesh George Harrison - Concert For George Paul McCartney - The Space Within Us - Specifically the show in San Jose which was filmed both nights in HD. I am sure there will be others as well. I can't wait! ~Josh |

Give My Regards To Broadstreet. The movie was kind of silly but it seemed to be a string of good rock video's and some great McCartney and Starr remakes of Beatles tunes. There is even another "Paul Is Dead" clue in that movie, if you watch closely. |

And don't start with A Hard Day's Night being an Academy ratio movie made by a US company (United Artists ) a decade after movies went widescreen. It even has a Projectionist 1.85 framing marking on it. |

Blu meanies!
heh heh I just got "Love" on DVD, but it is only a music DVD, no video. It sounds great on my system and I loved the Cirque Du Soleil show. It would be awesome to get a video of the show on Blu-ray! |

Most of the Beatles "real" work (as opposed to those cheap concert knockoffs) is owned by private sources and/or in legal ownership limbo, which explains why it took so long for MGM to release "Yellow Submarine". Like Miramax and "Hard Day's Night", it's lucky we have any studio getting them out at all, and I doubt EMI was able to pony up for the hi-def mastering. (Although a Disney/Max hi-def version of the remastered AHDN wouldn't look too bad.) ![]() ...And no, I don't think it has anything to do with Paul's legal snit at Steve Jobs over Apple. ![]() |

I thought Paul's The Space Within US concert was great, though the reproduction on Blu-ray could have been better. One thing I noticed on that disc that I haven't seen before or since (I have about 70 concert BDs) is the "jukebox" feature. This allows you to program up to 10 of your favorite cuts from the concert and play only them. I thought this was a fantastic feature, has anyone seen it on any other music BD?

lol just pointing it out to him. Classic rock/pop is what i normally love, but i'm open to all kinds of music and happen to enjoy Beyonce. Her music is average, but she's a wonderful performer. I especially enjoy that Blu that i mentioned above. Great PQ and AQ.
