Default Out-of-Print (OOP) Paramount Titles

*Note: Many of these will be re-released by Warner as of 01/01/2013, but I'm keeping this list intact for the time being. Some of these were 2-disc editions that might have only 1 disc when Warner re-releases them, so the deluxe editions are still OOP. This list also gives us a sense of what might go OOP again when the Paramount-Warner distribution deal ends after 2015.

Some titles, such as Iron Man 2-disc and Mission: Impossible 3 2-disc, remain with Paramount and are still OOP.

--------------------------------------------------

Arctic Tale
Black Rain
Black Snake Moan
Blades of Glory
Changing Lanes
Coach Carter
Dreamgirls 2-disc
Echelon Conspiracy
Election
Failure to Launch
Fatal Attraction
Freedom Writers
The Heartbreak Kid (2007)
Hot Rod
Indecent Proposal
Iron Man 2-disc
The Kite Runner
Last Holiday (2006)
The Last Kiss (2006)
The Love Guru (BD + Digital Copy)
A Mighty Heart
Mission: Impossible 3 2-disc
Mission: Impossible Ultimate Missions Collection (which has the 2-disc version of MI3)
Nacho Libre
Paycheck
Reds 2-disc
The Ruins
Star Trek (2009) 2-disc (with a third Digital Copy disc)
Strange Wilderness
3 Days of the Condor
U2: Rattle and Hum
World Trade Center 2-disc
Zodiac (2007) 2-disc

Best Buy Exclusives (not including different cover art or slipcovers):
Anchorman: The Rich Mahogany Edition
The Drawn Together Movie
Jackass 3.5
The Last Airbender 3D
Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol 3-disc

I don't know if I would include those 2-disk titles as being out of print. If I'm not mistaken, they're always labeled as "limited print run" and that their standard movie 1-disk edition are still in print.

It's like the Twilight movies. The 2-disk releases are no longer available but the "movie" only editions are readily available. I'm glad I have my copy of the Iron Man 2-disk version.

Limited or not, the fact remains that they are, indeed, OOP.

If they aren't made anymore, what else are they if not OOP?

There are copies of these movies floating around, but Paramount isn't making any more.

The third disc is just a Digital Copy. The one that's in print only has the movie disc.

I've posted it like I did because unlike mass market DVDs and Blu-rays which mostly never go out of print, companies do produce certain "limited-edition" copies of their merchandise. Technically, they're not out of print because the movies are readily still available. They're simply referred to as exhausting their print run or supply run.

You can make the argument that they are OOP but that isn't what most come to look at it as. They're like comic books. Once an issue has been produced, that's all that they produce for that issue. The only time a comic book would be printed (second printing, third printing, and so on, is if the company stands to make substantial profits from an additional print run).

I'm not arguing the point but rather pointing out an odd fact where it regards "limited" print runs on merchadise.

Some of the Paramount OOP titles could end up in a Best Buy 7.99 bin again. I would not rule them out as completely gone from circulation yet.
