saw the movie on the first day - Entertainment was limited to a cpl scenes only but overall disappointing in the rest. Sad that Arbaaz khan and Salman Khan played it very safely (similar to Don 2).

The movie was basically a made using a template of the first one (placement of songs, fights and emotional scenes)

Prakash Raj was weak as a villan no patch on Sonu Sood

Deepak Dobriyal had the best lines in the movie.

All songs were weak bar Dagabaaz Re. Fevicol made no sense in the scheme of the story.

There blatant product placement was annoying.

Also, the titles were a nice rip of Sherlock Holmes.

Watching Dabang 2, i appreciated the first one a lot more now than when it first released.

the best lines were by Chaubeyji & Tiwariji than Dobriyal

But yeah a very weak film only saved by a full in form Salman Khan who doesn't give you a dull moment whenever he is on screen in the film...wish he worked on better scripted films

Of course EROS will release the blu ray. Another one with DTS 7.1 I think, considering the genre of the film. Hope they do it properly this time though.

I'm surprised that, as a die hard SK fan, you haven't seen it yet. Or have you?

Personally I found it to be a bigger and better sequel to Dabangg.

Highly recommended for a great couple of hours of entertainment

That's what Wikipedia says. I find that even most 2-hour-long Indian films could use some cutting, so the ones approaching 2.5 and 3 hours definitely are too long. I'm glad that even masala filmmakers are sometimes making shorter films now.

None of the movies I mentioned are Hollywood movies. In fact they have the sort of storylines that might well have been attempted in Bollywood (Seven Samurai was ripped off in an indirect way as Khotey Sikkey and later as China Gate).

i had this argument with couple of other people on here earlier to so today im gona comment on this LAST TIME ... i prefer a movie should be atleast 2 hour 15 minutes or more the longer the better as longest the movie is good !! cuz heres the thing you spend like 20 dollars on gas (depending on how far the theater is) a ticket is around 10 to 12 dollars at the theater i go to in nj plus if the movie is in 3d like don and ra.one were than the tickets are like 15 16 dollars, if you go out with family so thats like 70 80 dollars on tickets plus junk food and if you have dinner aswell than usually for me and my family it costs more than 100 dollars watching a movie... so my point is if you are going to spend more than 100 dollars just cuz your going to the movies than you just dont want the movie to end in like 2 hours!!! and intermission happens in what like 45 50 minutes like kites did!!!i respect and understand all of your opnions but try understanding what im trying to say ,yes 2 hour movies arent bad but they should have a decent running time cuz you dont wanna go sit in the auditorium and b4 you know it in 2 hours your outa there!plus i usually go with my parents and family they all think the same way as i do i hope you guys understand my point thats all.

Chill WantedTM bro. We all do understand this fascination of yours towards movie duration. But trust me everytime u mention about length of the movie as too short, someone is always gonna bounce back on you because chances are he may not have read this LAST time explanation of yours. People here start a new thread before checking for duplication and so its very easy for people to skip reading your 'LAST' explanatory commment as well.

Tip: save a link of this thread on your desktop and paste the link in reply whenever next time anyone asks u the same.

Coming to the subject matter, the only differnce between you and other people and perhaps why people repeat this question to you time and again is because I guess most of them including me do not think of the overall experience of movie watching the way you do. You have connected almost all possible external aspects with the film like the price we spend, the people we go with, what we eat and do during interval and after film. That whole experience makes it big for you and thats why u feel the longer the duration, the more u feel the day spent was worth it. We all understand that. However we, at least I on the other hand stick to only and only the film and how its merits are vis-a-vis other films. No matter what duration, if a film holds, it holds...as simple as that. I never even dream about connecting it monetarily or any other way whatsoever to determine if it is worth it. Movie watching - a noteworthy event for you is just an internalisation process for many others.

THANK YOU!!! now you get my point and 1 last thing i forgot to mention was that we usually go watch movies cuz of 2 reasons 1 we love the actor or actress which is in the film or we go cuz everyone keeps on talking about it and we hear only good positive reviews so we get excited correct?so now imagine a movie which is very good we're excited to watch and we go to the theater and all we see is as soon as we start getting interested in it intermission happens in 1 hour and than in 60 minutes movie ends wont we be like wth was this 2 hour film people were dying over?lol get what i mean?like in my case heres a perfect example salman & kareena are my favourite so when dabangg 1*came out we all were super excited but when we went to watch it everything was good except that the movie ended b4 we even knew it thats why i dont even watch hollywood films cuz some arent even 1 and a half hour smh.

Another thing is if we even look at the bollywood 100 cr club the big hits excluding salman movies .. are movies with good running times like agneepath, housefull 2,3 idiots, jab tak hai jaan etc these are just to name a few.. and the movies which come out on diwali in my opnion are the biggest films of the year they all are good lengthy films even in 2012 this year jab tak hai jaan came out which was almost 3 hours now if it was only 2 hours i guarantee a lot of people wouldive felt disapointed cuz 1 more thing is short movies sometimes feel empty you know what i mean? i heard even son of sardar was 2 hour 25 min?idk i didnt see it yet but ya heres another example next diwali 2013 i heard krrish 3 will release along with chennai express im not sure but if they do than im sure if they turn out to be only 2 hours or even less as some of you even think 2 hours is lil long too than i dout people would be satisfied completely with the film...btw ANURAG1700 barfi is out of oscar race now do you know it sucks cuz you love that movie you saw it 3 times in theater right?lol

This ^ exactly this I was talking about above in my post and u have done it again. All external events matter to you and you have every right to feel that way. E.g. It matters to you that a film releasing on Diwali has to be big and worthy. I completely believe in my heart that the 100 crore club is a complete joke in itself. I do not go to theatre because i am excited about an actor/actress- the actors are just the same as characters they are playing for me. I do not go reading a positive review- i read them only bec I enjoy reading the expression of thoughts and viewpoints in a vocabulary which is editorially corrected. As much as I am passionate for cinema as a medium to experience every single time for every single film, the excitement is never the reason for me to decide about going to theatre to watch a particular film. So if a film turns out 'bad' or 'short' in your terms, I never blame the film for making me go to cinema to watch it. E.g. among your fav films, Mohabbatein at almost 4 hrs is my fav movie as well and I have watched it countless times. At the same time, 'Ek Main aur Ek tu' is also a film that I liked and it hardly was 1.5 hrs film. It did not matter to me that Mohabbatein was so housefull that i had to buy tickets in black. Similarly, it did not matter to me that EMET was so empty that there were just 4 people in entire 400 people capacity auditorium. For me, it is only me whose opinion matters and it is only the movie on which I should give opinion. Also, note that K3G is the worst film of my life.

As far as I am concerned for Barfi, no i never even cared whether they even send or not send it for oscars thats why it does not suck at all, and just to correct it, I watched it 5 times not 3. The fact that it lost the oscar race or that assuming any of department does not win any award, or even if that movie had flopped in first week still does not mean anything to me. It is important to leave all excitement in background and identify a film with a soul of its own with your own independent perspective without even a single external influence. I am afraid it takes time to understand this concept- I myself took lot of time. I have been in your place and so i very well know you will never agree with all this till u urself reach that stage. Till then, enjoy I will not pin point which stage I think you are at but all i wud say is every stage of maturing as a movie audience has its own fun. I still remember as a kid, only hindi movies with 'dishum-dishum' were bigger for me than any oscar winner in the whole wide world
