Yeah. I bought that one and have no regrets. It is barebones so I combined it with the Dvd. If it ever gets a new transfer I will upgrade....

Actually you can´t believe that Paramount releases "Rough Cut" prior to the classic "The Longest Yard".

A Paramount presents title?

No way. The movie is not very known and popular in Burt Reynolds' resume.

"The Longest Yard" would be a possiblity as a Paramount presents title since it´s a classic.

I'm just basing it on the pricing, but yeah, I agree that it's not that well known to justify a presents release. As of right now, it has the same $25.99 price as First Wives Club. Regular Paramount releases don't have any MSRP close to that, so if not a Presents title, then that price is probably a mistake.

I may be misremembering, but wasn't "Rough Cut" one of the titles Mister Lime once said it had clearance issues? Thus, it wasn't available to license and never made it to DVD, either. If so, it's good to see it coming out if there were clearance issues.

Yes, it's sort of an obscure one overall, but this type of deep dive is very welcome. If only we could get something like Unman, Wittering and Zigo, that would be amazing, never even had a VHS. I saw it once, probably on the Z Channel. Also, releasing some of these lesser titles bodes well for the bigger ones they haven't gotten to yet. Surely, they know what their unreleased bigger hitter titles are, so hopefully those are also in the pipeline.

You should read up on it on Wikipedia. It was a troubled production, Siegel was fired, and Burt was responsible to get him back on board. Lots of problems with various re-shot endings, too. Should have been a messier film than it turned out as. Saw it in the theater once back then, don't remember much about it at all, sort of decent, not great, but not horrible.

Interesting read.

Some of my go to reviewers rated it somewhat (Roger Ebert) favorably (Elric Kane of Pure Cinema Podcast), so at least a one watch minimum will be in order.
