I recently checked the audio bitrates of Indian releases of various movies and I found the bitrates a little low.
For example - Iron Man 2 - Avg 4.7 mbps during the action sequence at Stark Expo never crossing 5 mbps SPider-man 3 - Avg 3.5 mbps during the Harry/Peter air battle never crossing 4.5 mbps Casino Royale - Average bitrate of 2.4mbps never crossing 3.4mbps during any action sequence. These are bitrates of US releases- Captain America - Avg 5.7mbps during any action sequence sometimes touch 6.7mbps Are the bitrates really low for Indian releases or am I over-reacting? How much difference is 1mbps going to make? |

The bitrate of lossless audio has nothing to do with quality, aside from indicating the compressibility of the source.

I never really saw the bitrates go over 6mbps. But lossless is lossless right? There is no such thing as one country having higher quality lossless audio than the other, right? I was worried I was gonna have to buy my blu-rays again.

I don't know much about Indian discs, but it's possible that a disc released by one distributor might have 24bit audio, another might have 16bit, etc...
