This isn't another thread talking about the show being cancelled, but more just to give my thoughts on the finale.
Anyone else watch that and just feel so angry and frustrated at the storyline involving the "Rubber Room"? My brother is a teacher and my mom's been an educator for years, and is now a Director of Education at a midwest university. And watch this just reinforces why I would NEVER be a teacher. Not just the little pay or respect, but the fact that these kids can f*** your whole life up with a simple accusation. One thing taken out of context, or intentionally blown up into something it's not, and your life is gone. Basically this is what happened. [Show spoiler] This just reinforces my belief that kids as a whole are just completely without morals and ethics and have no problem just completely ruining someone's life. YES this is a show, but if you don't think this type of shit has happened you're delusional. And not all kids are like that, but a lot are. And it's not "kids these days" because they were a-holes back when I was in school. Knowing this, why would you EVER want to be a teacher and put yourself in that position of vulnerability where all a kid has to do is make an accusation like that, and even if they exonerate you, you're done. I honestly fear for my brother having something like that happen. these kids know way too much as far as how to manipulate and the power of blanket accusations. It's like these people who have wrongly been accused of sexual offenses or whatever. all it takes is an accusation. Even if you're acquitted, you're always going to be the guy who was accused of a sex offense. ![]() EDIT: here's a NY Times article talking about the episode and the "Rubber Rooms". MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/20...e-rubber-room/ Last edited by Groo The Perverted; 05-29-2010 at 12:33 AM. |
