Default No sound on special features

I'm using the Sony blu ray bdp-s370 and all I'm using is a hdmi for sound. No surround just tv speakers. All films play fine but on certain films like red dawn and halloween part 1 the special features play and have no sound. The movie has sound though. Iv tried changing settings but no luck and it is updated.

OK, not sure if any of these will work, but have you tried unplugging your BD from the wall, is your BD firmware up to date and have you played around with your audio settings to see if that fixes the issues? If not, you might find your owners manual and call the 800 customer service number. I had a similar issue with my Highlander season commentaries being out of sync with the picture. Anyway, not sure if this will work, but if we're lucky someone will see this post and help you with your problem. It can be rough trying to get a answer over the weekend. Seems that most members read the forum at work

Yes it's updated, and I get audio during the movie, during main menu as well and most titles have audio on special features its just certain titles that have no audio. Again I use the hdmi for audio and visual and nothing else

Have you tried cycling through the different audio tracks which might be available? Perhaps there's a different audio track that will allow for hearing the special features. Hard to say what might be going on without knowing the specific equipment involved and settings used on both ends.

If you have your manual for the 370, go to pg 23 and let me know what audio settings you have now. The problem isn't with your connections if it only occurs with certain BDs. I would recommend audio (HDMI) set to auto. BD Audio mix to ON. Downmix to Stereo, if you are just using TV speakers.

Don't have the manual but my settings are as follows, also if the blu ray does not have a 2.0 speaker selection on audio and only has 5.1 I have to have the tv up all the way basically for speaking parts, but when music hits its crazy loud. During tv and video games or watching standard DVD I never experience these issues.

My settings

Audio: choices= auto or PCM I use auto
Dsd output mode= set to off
Bd mixing = on
Dolby digital: coaxial/optical choices = down mix PCM or Dolby digital, I use Dolby
Dts coaxial/optical choices are down mix PCM and dts I use dts
Dts neo 6 choices are cinema, music or off. I have it off
Audio drc choices are auto, standard, wide range I use auto
Down mix choices are stereo or surrond I use stereo

I did a quick google search and found your owners manual. Here's a link to page 23 ray suggested. Hope it helps you. Seems to be that is where your issue is. Like I said in my previous post I sometimes have this issue on both my Samsung and Vizio players when playing extras. For example, my Vizio and Samsung are set up as so:

Vizio:
PCM Downsampling 96kHz
Digital Output PCM 5.1
Dynamic Range Control On
Stereo Downmix Auto

Samsung:
Digital Output PCM
PCM Downsampling On
Dynmaic Range Control Auto
Downmixing Mode Norma Stereo

Does your tv have a coax or optical audio input?

If so, you could try routing the sound that way before getting a new player.

Gotta love it. In looking for a solution for you, I worked out the sound issues I was having with my Samsung BD(I think). Glad you worked it out. Love the tech, but it is a pain in the ass to work out.

Which sound track type is the problem?
The forum's review says there are 3 different English audio tracks
Over 40 user reviews did not have any 'challenges'

Could it be a problem with secondary audio? Try setting audio to PCM or LPCM. Secondary audio doesn't play over bitstream.
