Default Video card problems

Has anyone dealt with Evga and their problems? I need to rma a card that I bought a couple years ago. It's an Evga gtx260 and as I have contacted their tech support they are saying the serial number does not match any in their system what should I or can I do I have the card and invoice from ordering the card? Any help would be great!

If you had it a couple of years it's probably out of warranty. You can check by prefix to determine warranty period. Typically, retailers will only take returns within a specific period, usually 30 days. Burning through video cards is pretty typical so if it had a 3 year warranty and you've had it 3 years, don't expect free things. Bite the bullet and buy a new card, good news is today's $99 graphics card is equivalent to $299 card from 3 years ago.

What budious said. Or just Google the card's model number (not serial #) and you'll find how long the warranty period was good for. Then, match it to your invoice.

Buy an Asus, Gigabyte or Sapphire for your next video card.

If warranty and customer support for your next purchase is a major concern for you going fwd. Take a look at XFX video cards. They have double lifetime warranty....

Good luck with whatever card you choose!!!!

XFX does provide a limited lifetime warranty or specific video cards if your video card is registered within 30 days, they are no longer transferrable, they have discontinued the "Double Lifetime Warranty"

From their website...

"Which products are eligible for a limited lifetime hardware warranty?

The following Graphics Cards are eligible for an extension of the standard two-year limited hardware warranty:

1. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Dual Fan (Double Dissipation Edition) Graphics Cards with Ghost Technology; a floating cover design that maximizes airflow by creating exceptional venting throughout the card.

2. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards with 10-digit model numbers ending in “R” (example: “FX-797A-TDFR”)

3. XFX Radeon HD 6000, HD 5000, and HD 4000 Series Graphics Cards

4. XFX GeForce GT 520, GT 430, 200, 9000, 8000, 7000, 6000 Series Graphics Cards purchased after April 17, 2007.

If you register any of the specified products noted above online at http://xfxforce.com/en-us/languagese...m/default.aspx within 30 days of purchase, your limited warranty will be EXTENDED for the duration of your life. Registration within 30 days of the date of purchase is a condition precedent to receiving the lifetime warranty.***

*** Products that are not listed above are NOT eligible for a limited lifetime hardware warranty.

The limited hardware warranty on all XFX-branded products begins on the date of the packing slip, invoice, or receipt. A copy of the dated original invoice/receipt must be submitted to verify warranty repair or replacement. In circumstances where the transaction record is not available or reasonably verifiable (based on date of manufacture), the warranty period shall begin on the date of manufacture of the product.

*** The limited warranty for XFX Limited Edition graphics cards lasts for a period of two years and is non-transferable."
