Anyone have one in their town? I'm talking about OLD, majestic, extravagantly built theaters from the early days of cinema. In my town, we have the Palace Theater. It was built in the late 20's. 1926, I think. It is one of those theaters that was built to look an actual palace. Going there as a kid, it seemed like just a movie theater. As I got older, I realized just how special it is. While I like seeing movies at Tinseltown or other multiplexes, there's just something about seeing a classic movie in such a majestic theater. The best is when they play a silent horror movie. It actually still has the original pipe organ that was installed when it opened in the 20s, one of only a couple of theaters in the whole country that can make that claim. It's really quite something to see a silent movie with live pipe organ accompaniment. Any such theaters in your towns? I'd be interested in reading about other such theaters in the country.
