my favorite one of the series! love john woo and love the 'romantic element' of the plot. typical woo motifs ( doves, good v evil, religion iconography), the action was amazing and the end motorcycle chase is one of the best non CG action scenes of the last 20 years (only woo's speedboat chase in face/off equals it imho). i don't get all the hate for this episode in the series where as the last 2 films are practically the same in look/action/character arc. i hope they use the original poster artwork for the steelbook

I'm not saying that but, in every other one of the series, you actually start to feel something towards the characters - it's the way that film-making works. If the audience have no one to identify with, the whole point of the film is lost because there's no interest there. Woo made an action heavy film that had no characterisation for any of the leads - I didn't feel that I wanted Cruise to succeed because I didn't really care for him like I did in the first (third, and fourth). I like Woo, and he does action sequences like no other director in Hollywood, but he has no concept of emotion in English language movies.
