They just started airing this on BBC2 in the UK tonight, and eps 1&2 will be repeated tomorrow (Sat) at 22:45 GMT.
Looks interesting, I'm sure I'll buy the blu if I like the series.

Terrible mini series. Although there were a few great performances the series is sketchy, skips too many important events and does not even include one single mention of Teddy Kennedy.....go figure.

Agreed. Horrible miniseries with lots of historical inaccuracies. Avoid at all costs.

I watched this a while back on TV in Canada. I think it is a pretty good series. Which parts of the story are inaccurate? JFK really wasn't a womanizer?

The fact that the History Channel bailed on airing this due to how historically inaccurate it is should be all that is needed for people to know this thing is a soap opera that has about as much footing in reality as Oliver Stones W. did. It's not like the history channel is some left wing organization either. They are about as non-partisan as it gets so nobody can claim it was axed because of political pressure or whatnot. They canned it solely on the fact it did not meet History Channel criteria.

Also, the author whose book this mini-series was mostly based off of. Has openly called it a hack job that selectively edited his book to suit their agenda. Which while maybe not a 'right wing' conspiracy as many have called it(The creators are republicans with Fox ties fyi) it most definitely was 'spiced up' and made more titillating than the real facts about the kennedy's as a means to draw in more viewers and ratings. Much like how cable news turns things like the balloon boy into a week long ordeal... Ratings, Ratings, Ratings.. Reality be damned.

I would avoid this like the plague, and if you do watch it, take it with a grain of salt. This thing is about as realistic and true to history as Mel Gibson in Braveheart lol

OUCH! haha

Let's be fair...in order to be as historically inaccurate as Braveheart, all the characters would have to be wearing space suits with backwards helmets.

Default Terrible!

Almost no-one in this poorly written series comes out well. JFK is portayed as rather weak and a trerrible wife cheater. Bobby is arrogant beyond belief and so immature. Old Joe is no better than a mafioso gangster etc. etc. Perhaps the Kennedys were this bad but if so what does that say about any decency in the American political system? (I can hear the laughter here!) I could hardly see it through. The assasination is completely unimaginative and just follows the totally discredited LHO line. I would not have it for free and at best it would be a rent. Save your money. Only Jackie and the black butler had any saving grace. It started off badly and just never got any better!

People don't like seeing their hereos in a bad light but sometimes it's the truth.

Think I'm going to pass on this one. Katie Holmes was once America's sweetheart, now she's a Stepford wife.

She should seriously pack it up and move into Suri's $100,000 treehouse.

Any word on the special features associated with this release? I'm on the fence between picking it up or just watching the instant stream on netflix...

I'm curious what are these "historical inaccuracies" that people keep referring too? Any actual proof or are people spouting off at the mouth about a tv series they didn't care for.

Yeah? What does point away from Oswald or to any other conspirators?
Sorry but after I researched thoroughly I believe it is almost 100% sure that Oswald was the lone gunmen and it of course is POSSIBLE that someone hired him or something but there is no evidence supporting that and I for one considere it extremely unlikely that someone would hire someone like Oswald.

Isn't this the same channel that has shows about Aliens and how they built the pyramids, the medieval cathedrals and laid out Washington DC?

Yes, the history channel did bail on this but probably not down to innacuracies. Caroline Kennedy lobbied to stop the airing of the series within the US. The 'bailing' as you put it might be down to respect for the family as a number of channels did also 'bail'.

Prior to airing your thoughts try to consider why C Kennedy lobbied...and consider that it may have more truths than the american public are ready for. Can you advise on the innacuracies you mentioned?

Look out for Leonardo Di Caprio's Legacy of Secrecy. I can hardly wait for your review of that one.

United Kingdom An Excellent Series

Was aired on BBC-HD this June. An absolutely gripping watch from start to finish. Great acting from some well chosen lookalikes. All the interest and passion of Oliver Stones JFK but from the family perspective.

It will be sometime before a series this good is made again.

Exactly - where are they? all these innacuracies?

A lot of interest being shown by those who announce they dont like the series. Forum sites were born for wasters like you..
