I'm a big Slasher movie fan as I'm sure many are. I thought it might be cool to have a place to show off our Slasher Blu Ray collections and discuss up coming and lesser known releases. I noticed in the Halloween Marathon thread peeps weren't aware Black Christmas (origional) was out in Canada for instance.
I'm mainly looking forward to the impending release of Blue Undergrounds Maniac of forthcoming releases and of course the Scream trilogy. I've just gone on a online Slasher spending spree and ordered the following to add to my collection. Most are blind buys and no doubt some will be less than good but I've got a soft spot for most Slashers even the bad ones. Wolf Creek - UK Urban Legend - UK All the Boys Love Mandy Lane - UK Midnight Movie - US Killer Movie - US Switchblade Romance - UK Triangle - UK Which will join the following to form like Voltron and make up my current Blu Ray Slasher movie collection, Halloween - UK Rob Zombie's Halloween - Australian Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 Theatrical - UK Friday the 13th - UK Friday the 13th (remake) - UK Suspiria - UK The Prowler - US Sorority Row - UK My Bloody Valentine - US My Bloody Valentine 3D - UK Texas Chainsaw Masacre - UK |

Defjuggalo, I think you should give Maniac a rent on dvd so you can preview it before it comes out on Blu-ray this Oct. Its an old film that showcases Tom Savini's make-up effects. Savini also has a bit part which I think has one of the best death scenes when it comes to slasher films. Also, give The Midnight Meat train a rent which is available on Blu-ray. I like it but many people don't.

OP - about Switchblade Romance - I don't know how literally you mean "just" ordered it, BUT if it's still in the shrinkwrap and the return window is still open, I'd consider returning it and picking up the new U.S. release from Lionsgate (released under the title "High Tension"), which is available as a Best Buy exclusive (along with several other LG catalog titles) until Oct 5. Based on tech specs it's superior to the UK release and ports over all the extras (director/writer commentary, featurettes, etc.) from the U.S. dvd, whereas the UK blu is bare bones.

As for the original topic, the OP already has a very good list going - I can't think of anything good to add to the list off the top of my head. The only movies that aren't on the list that I want to recommend are only on DVD so far, not Blu-Ray. |

As the title state's I'm after some Horror Blu rays. I have alot of the traditional, classic stuff (check my collection), but am lacking alot of the more modern stuff and struggle to know what is good, as I know the genre is flooded with mediocre titles. Horror is one of my fav genre's, yet my collection of titles is fairly small, so please help me change this.
I like most stuff..slasher, gore, zombies, atmosphere, suspense, scary etc. So with that in mind, what titles do you recommend? |

I don't know if you like Sam Raimi or not, but if you do, I'd recommend:
The Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness are great movies as well, but the discs aren't as high quality as the other two I mentioned. The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a great BD of a horror classic if you like it. As for newer films, I really enjoyed Trick 'r Treat and The House of the Devil, but both of these films seem to be pretty polarizing, so I'd do some research before blind buying if you haven't seen them. |

Nice collection -- looks like we have similar tastes.
I few missing titles I noticed glancing through: Evil Dead movies 28 Days Later Frailty Invasion of the Body Snatchers Dawn of the Dead (1978) Living Dead at Manchester Morgue The Fly Texas Chainsaw Massacre Also, Pontypool (which is a UK, Region-free disc) is something you might enjoy. Might want to rent it locally first. EDIT: Looks like a lot of people beat me too it. ![]() |
