As of today, it's still my favorite film of the year. Evans is great, and McKenna Grace gives one of the best breakout performances from a child actor I've seen. A real delightful film. Highly recommended.
I'll be picking up the BD day one for sure. |

How are there so few posts in this thread? I finally got around to watching this blu and I liked it way more than I expected. It's funny, it's heartfelt, and it has a monocular cat named Fred. What's not to like?

What an absolutely delightful film - hadn't even heard of it and its been the best blind bet yet this year, having picked it up recently at a thrift store. Glad I didn't read the official bluray.com review prior to viewing which seems to get it all wrong. An extremely even-handed film not wasting any part of it's screen time and not wearing out its welcome, this film out and out belongs to the knock-out performances of the incredibly gifted McKenna Grace and Lindsey Duncan as her grand mother. Its beautifully written and there are some cleverly funny moments that nicely balance out the underlying drama of the feature ('Good Morning, Ms.Stevenson' had me rolling in such an awesome tongue-in-cheek moment in the flick) All of the supporting cast do real good with the one major flaw in the film on display so conspicuously IMHO - the woefully miscast Chris Evans in a role that needed more experienced chops to knock this feature out of the park. But being an animal activist myself, I forgave the character for his gesture at the vet towards the end of the film. All in all, a beautifully made film that earns an easy recommendation.
