USA Rescue (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region Locked / Free] [IMAX]

I got this in the post from Amazon UK yesterday (only £5 bargain!) and it was absolutely stunning. It got a good review on this site when it was released a few years ago. It's just an Imax doco about four different rescuers and how their skills converge after the Haiti earthquake. The photography is absolutely gorgeous and the documentary is really compelling but good lord the 3D is out of this world! The first shot will blow you mind, taken from a helicopter looking down at a cable and basket being lowered, the cable is coming right out of the screen. The whole thing is like this though with some of the strongest depth i have ever seen, really mind blowing stuff, i highly, highly recommend this, not just for the 3D but for the documentary itself.

Hadn't heard of this, thanks for mentioning, - I'll have to see if I can get the same deal.

I've had a bit of a fascination with Haiti, especially in the aftermath of the earthquake. The place has an extraordinary history and has seen a lot of tradgedy. I've watched some of the other docs on youtube, including a BBC one from the 1970s where the filmmaker actually met with and interviewed Papa Doc Duvalier!

Thanks for the 3D info Levcore. I saw this in Best Buy and thought "A documentary in 3D," then moved on to the next title on the shelf, not know if the 3D would've been worth seeing. I'll keep an eye on it for consideration next time I see it for a good price, thanks!

Sounds like you are not familiar with IMAX documentaries. There are quite a few out there. I had the IMAX Rescue movie for a while but eventually sold it. I have other IMAX movies though (Lemurs of Madagascar, Born To Be Wild, Legends of Flight and a few more). In general I like IMAX movies quite well as they tend to have great 3D to go along with informative documentaries.

I also own this documentary (with slipcover!) as well and think it is excellent. I was a mechanic specialized in Electrical & Environmental systems for the U.S. Air Force and worked on the C-5 Galaxy and the C-130 aircraft. I've seen firsthand all of the humanitarian work the U.S. military does. It always impressed me how quickly the U.S. military would respond to humanitarian crisis around the world.

Also recently watched the Lemurs IMAX doc and thought that one was excellent as well. Got it for a decent price off of eBay too.

Well, I have always been a fan of documentaries and have a few IMax 3D ones and 2D ones over the years, but for replay value, I noticed I haven't been playing my Imax 3D docs as much as I would prefer. I'll consider this though at the right price hearing how awesome the 3D is.
I have collected a ton of Nature related documentaries though over the years, about animals.

Imax 3D is most times the best in the industry, agreed.

Thanks for the info. Cool you got to work on aircraft and systems.
