Spain Nanook of the North

Nanook of the North

If anyone owns this Spanish release: how is the quality and what are the specs? If the quality is good it is a far more inexpensive alternative than the US release.

Would be good to get an answer to this. Apparently the Flaherty Foundation recently funded a 4k scan from the original negative, so it's possible the Spanish disc is not only cheaper than the US edition but also of superior quality.

Blurb from Divisa website:

Quote:
This edition presents the fully restored film with its full length and the optimal projection speed, accompanied by a soundtrack composed by Timothy Brock and performed by The Olympia Chamber Orchestra. Also included nearly three hours of bonus material between which is a documentary about NANOOK produced in 1988 and several medium-length documentaries related to the Eskimos and the Arctic made between 1913 and 1959.
The extras on the Flicker Alley version come to 2 hours 40 mins so it's quite likely this version is the same.

I can confirm that this is 1080p and with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio, just like the US release. It's got the original English intertitles with removable Spanish or Portuguese subtitles. It does not include the US release's co-feature "The Wedding of Palo", but it does include the 6 shorts from the US release, all in 1080p. Overall I am very pleased with this release as an alternative to the more expensive US release.
