The room is primarily going to be for electronic music production but I figured I'd stick my projector and surround down there too. I think I'll try to make a film score.

77 views and not a single comment. I guess i must have just done a bad job. Oh well.

Did it mostly myself with help from friends in under 2 months. It's not finished. I have a bunch of acoustic wall treatments coming. Corner bass traps and foam panels. I'm also building rockwool panels. Plus I have to bring down my Mac and all of my musical equipment.

It cost a lot more than I anticipated. I could never afford to pay contractors. A buddy helped me with framing and hanging the drywall. Another buddy and his friend did the electric connections after I ran all the wire and placed the boxes.

I hired someone to do the mudding and sanding of the drywall. I ran an ad for a labor gig on Craigslist. Got a bunch of offers. I didn't choose the cheapest. I chose the guy with 20 years experience. I bought the materials and he did it for $15 an hour.

I hired a carpet installer off Craigslist the same way. I got the carpet and tackstrip cheap enough at Lowes. The pad from Home Depot because they sell whole rolls cheaper than buy the foot at Lowes. The carpet installer was excellent. He did a great on the stairs. He had a helper. He installs for a bunch of carpet places but does side jobs like mine on the weekends. Did it all for $200. The stairs were a lot of work. Lowes said they would install it for $97 but then they rape you for everything extra like the stairs. I paid .65 cents a square foot to buy the carpet. It's a lot nicer than I thought something that cheap would be. Lifetime stain and soil warranty but I don't suppose it would be easy to collect on that if I had too.

The only thing I wish was that the room was wider but it had to be built between the stairs and block wall so that's the best it can be.

You've done a wonderful job on the room!

It looks great!

Once you get all your panels finished and set up, I bet that room will really sound good. All the fruits of your labor are definitely going to pay off.

Thanks, guys. I'm proud of it. I know there are people here with superb home theaters but my little man cave is good enough for me.

Yes the back side of the room is my music studio. I need to get a new audio interface then I am going to try and make a film score in 7.1 surround. Getting some of my gear hooked up right now.
