Does it bother anyone else that they removed the American Flag from Statham's jacket and inserted a gun in his hands? To me, this completely changes the meaning of the film. (Yes, I understand Statham is British, as that's not the point.) It's the principle that they took out American symbolism and patriotism and attempted to make the poster more mainstream and badass with the insertion of the gun.

Just watched this. Fully enjoyed it. I like Statham but his films usually leave me empty. Probably because of the lack of caring I have for most of the characters in those films. Not so with this one. I cared about Statham and his daughter. I enjoyed the bad guys. And I enjoyed watching a character I cared for kick the bad guys asses.
As "dumb" action films go this is better and a bit smarter then most. |

Just read the review on this site, and i am quite annoyed by it.
I saw this movie in the cinema and really enjoyed it. Not trying to be anything else other than a straight up action movie with a heart. What did the reviewer expect? Did he not read the synopsis or see the trailer? I found that review to be unnecessarily harsh. I love these kind of simple, hard hitting, tough guy movies. They're sorely lacking these days, and i salute Statham and Stallone for keeping them going. Sometimes you don't want to be challenged by a movie, or to have to think too hard. Sometimes you just want some good old fashioned skull cracking, and to root for the good guy. Don't get me wrong, i went to see Philomena, and was engrossed by American Hustle, but was entertained in equal measure by Stathams growling. The reviewer would do well to recognise who the target audience is.. |
