Blu-ray Knight

I’ve been a member of Blockbuster online for several years, and have never really had an issue with discs playing until this year. Lately, it seems like 50% or more of BDs I receive from them have freezing problems in at least one spot on the disc, and more often than not throughout the entire disc. Just this weekend I had problems with Apollo 18 and Tower Heist, to the point where I missed a good portion of each movie. In most instances, I’ll have to skip the remainder of the chapter in order to continue. I know it’s not my player, because I’ve confirmed it repeats in several players I own. I’ve also never had this problem with any new discs I have purchased, and I don’t recall ever having the problem with discs from RedBox. I’ve even sent discs back before, only to have the replacement to the exact same thing in the exact same spot.
Now, to address the obvious: My firmware is up to date and the discs are clean with no visible cracks, scratches, etc. Extra cleaning does not improve the problem. This is becoming extremely frustrating, and I’m close to simply cancelling my subscription and going with RedBox for any future rentals. Anyone experiencing similar problems with rental discs? I’m beginning to think that QC on rental-only discs is non-existent. ![]() |
